If you love history, haunted places, and quiet elegance from the 1850's, the historic Hotel Jefferson is a must! Renovated beautifully, filled with antiques - and an occasional friendly ghost, it is well worth the stay. I loved sitting in the charming old lobby reading "The Book of the Dead", a collection of guests' stories about spirits they'd encountered here....

Have stayed at this hotel many times and love the old charm of the hotel and the town. The hotel has no real amenities and is what you would expect for a historic hotel. But needs a real good cleaning in all areas, carpets, drapes, bedspreads, baths. Because of this, I think this is the last time we will stay.

We met friends of ours in Jefferson for a couples weekend. The location of the Jefferson Hotel is fantastic. Once we parked our car on Friday we didn't get in it again until Sunday, when it was time to head home. I understand the building is historical, but that doesn't mean it can't be updated. The carpet in our room...

Look. The first thought that comes to mind upon checking in here is, "What's the time frame difference between historic and authentic and just old and needs updating?" Per my title, the bed (queen) was VERY comfortable and slept as well as any hotel bed I've slept on from Hawaii to the Caribbean to Ireland to expensive convention hotels. The...

Stayed here for 1 night during a Haunting Convention in town. The place is in a great location and has a great Italian restaurant attached. You get 15% off your bill if you eat there. Lots of spooky vibes and they stay true to the "old" but it was a little past that. It was for sure rundown. I dont...

This hotel is definitely worth a stay for anyone that enjoys historic hotels or haunted hotels. Overall the hotel is average. It's a little rundown and feels very old (which it is). Do your research ahead of time on the rooms, and decide which room you'd like to stay in. The second floor balcony is great for relaxing outside downtown....

I loved the history of this hotel but I was a little spooked out. We never encountered any staff since we arrived late and had to leave early. We were the only guests there and took advantage of the weekday specials they offer. I was looking forward to the clawfoot tub but was a bit disappointed with it. Although I...

I love this Hotel. We love the history and all the ghost tales. The rooms are awesome. It is like going back in time.....old timey furniture and atmosphere. The stairs to go upstairs are very creaky which adds to the excitement you feel. The clerks are so friendly. Planning to go back in Oct.

So my best friend surprised me by staying at this hotel (which has always been a childhood dream of mine) and we loved it! We stayed in room 25 and it was a beautiful room with a nice jacuzzi tub (which we loved). Since I had always wanted to stay there I knew that the hotel was said to be...

Wonderfully helpful and friendly staff made our stay in this fabulous old building. However the hotel is in need of a lot of updating from carpets to bedding which are all very worn and shabby - unfortunately without the chic! I fear this could take a lot of money so may be sometime before rectified.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At a time when steamboats plied the Big Cypress River from New Orleans and true Southern gentility was the order of the day a stately structure, now known as the Jefferson Hotel, was built. Once used as a warehouse to store cotton, this lovely building changed hands numerous times. At the turn of the twentieth century it was transformed into a hotel and has served as a haven for weary travelers since that time. ... more   less
