Just spent another weekend in one of our favorite places to visit Jefferson Texas and stayed at the Historic Jefferson Hotel once again. We make at least 2 trips a year to Jefferson for the Candlelight Tour in December and the Pilgrimage in May. We always stay at the Jefferson Hotel. This hotel is in the perfect location and is...

It is an easy walk to the old downtown of Jefferson from the hotel. The stairs and doors are a little squeaky, but it fits in with the ghost tour. The room was fine and bed comfortable enough. Enjoyed sitting out on the balcony across the front of the hotel in the evenings.

Everyone @ this hotel is so friendly! We stayed in June, returned in July. Our June stay was enjoyable & while our July stay was nice, there were some things we felt shouldn't have happened. We got in late, so our key was in an envelope on the front desk, with our receipt, which held personal info on it. There...

Old rustic Hotel. Like taking a step back in time. Stayed in the room where a 15 year old bride hung herself after being jilted. Staff is nice and friendly. The upstairs hall way has a lot of old pieces along the wall that I enjoyed looking at. No ghost sightings though :(. The girl friend did her the thump...

A older Gem that could use some TLC. Keep it's charm yet clean it up some. Moldy sooty black mess by air intakes and outlets, not all rooms have individual controls and scrimping on personal items such as only 1 bar soap for both sink and tub. Spend a little to upgrade baths to standing also showers instead of hand...

Staff was friendly and nice. After that not much. The a/c in our room was 63. We tried and tried to turn it down even to heat and only got to 64. After the restaurant closed the staff which uses the same building was out in the hall and very loud with no regard to guest in being as quiet...

The staff is fantastic! I love the guestbook in the lobby that has all of the old signatures. The hotel just oozes history. The atmosphere is just so exciting. My family loves ghosts, hauntings, etc so we thought this would be a great getaway. It was! The other guests were so friendly. It was nice meeting other folks that were...

Staying here was not my idea... It was kind of annoying once we arrived we had to wait 30 minutes to get in to the hotel because no one was there to open it up for us. Other than I really enjoyed my stay even with the strange things that happened. We came to Jefferson on a getaway to escape...

So We were able to score a really great rate, surprisingly. But now that we checked out, I see why. I made our reservation on Saturday evening last minute. We live in Houston Tx, and wanted to go on a road trip. For some reason we choose Jefferson Tx. Yes the GHOST! After driving 4 hours we arrived to the...

This is the third time we have stayed here and wow has this hotel gone down hill in the just a few years. For starters the room was filthy, hair in the sink, lights burned out, stained carpet, and stains on the towels. This place could use a little TLC, possibly a maintenance man. I understood that the tub may...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At a time when steamboats plied the Big Cypress River from New Orleans and true Southern gentility was the order of the day a stately structure, now known as the Jefferson Hotel, was built. Once used as a warehouse to store cotton, this lovely building changed hands numerous times. At the turn of the twentieth century it was transformed into a hotel and has served as a haven for weary travelers since that time. ... more   less
