Cibolo Creek is the perfect place for a quiet, high end get away. Visitors will be impressed with the excellent food, the beautiful desert scenery, and the amenities. Horseback riding, Humvee tours of the moutains, as well as a nice pool and spa services are available. No TV or internet in the rooms encourages quiet reflection and reading.

I don't know the owner, John Poindexter, but I want to use this forum to personally thank him for sharing with the public the great vision he had in restoring this very historic and beautiful ranch. For a history nut like me, this is a true gem. The ranch was owned by Milton Faver as early as 1857, just a...

If it's a resort, then they need to hire resort personnel to greet their guests and make them feel welcome. If it's a working ranch, then that explains them shoving a disclaimer of liability in my face and the odd vibe that we were allowed on premises only to help them defray costs. At the rates they are charging per...

We stayed three nights with a small group interested in birding. The lodging is exquisite. Although done in an "old west" style, most modern conveniences are available. The ranch is well outside of any towns or major roads and encompasses a large area in west Texas. (Cell phone and satellite connections are not always available.) The rooms and entire layout...

We stayed here one night on our honeymoon tour of Big Bend. We spend a lot of time in the area, and I grew up in West Texas. We had never been here. Ok, it's expensive. You know that when you book it. Here's our take. We have kids. This is not the best place for kids. It's quiet. Relaxed....

Enjoyed an outstanding dinner with colleges this week. A state historical site dating back hundreds of years. Friendly hospitality! Try the steak or grilled fish for dinner. At dark, visit the fire pit. Hope you get to visit with the ranch owner John Poindexter.

For us this was not just a lodge. It is a historic masterpiece. You really can't enjoy this place until you truly understand what John Poindexter has accomplished. His vision of restoring a ranch and fort back to what it was like in the 1800s has made it a Texas star. We enjoyed the isolation and solitude. If you are...

An absolutely superb place to get away from it all. Food of the highest quality. Service impeccable. Every room was charming. The ambience of the old fort cannot be replicated elsewhere. A must stay place in the middle of nowhere. We will come back again. We stayed in December 2013 - January 2014 but just now got around to the...

The experience here has been top notch from start to finish. Elena in the front office has been so gracious with assisting with reservations, and we were allowed to check in early and join for lunch on our first day which was an unexpected treat. The location is breathtaking and you instantly feel like a welcome guest in a very...

There are very few places left in the world, sans Aman Resorts, that equal the attention to detail at Cibolo Creek. John Poindexter has made an oasis. Very few will know or appreciate the solice, excruciating beauty, and warmth the resort effortlessly presents.
