The facilities and rooms are a bit basic, but this was an amazing experience. The staff are extremely nice. We arrived, we were taken by boat to a small island with Mayan ruins, and then on to the main Mayan site. The food was good. Overall, you should really stay here for a night if you are visiting at Tikal....

OK, it's the only place you could stay anywhere near Yaxha without sleeping under the skies, but it still provides a good experience. The owner is very helpful and full of good information, and all of the staff were nice. The bungalows provide only a basic level of comfort, but the price is not overly high in view of the...

Stayed in a bungalow, which I thought was very overpriced for the quality of the accommodation. Its really rather tired and basic, the ceiling is just mesh, so if you have someone staying next door, there is no barrier to light or noise from the other half of the bungalow. The food, however, is very good. Stayed here to be...

We stopped here on our tour of Yaxha. We were surprised by the excellent quality of the lunch. It was imaginative, flavorful and perfectly prepared. What was billed as grilled chicken it was marinated, stuffed with spinach and cheese. The desert was a strudel made with crepes. It was the best meal we had in Guatemala. We did not stay...

We stayed here for our medical mission. The owner Gabriella and her son Sebastian were wonderful hosts. They were very accomodating of our requests. My family is vegetarian and the food they prepared for us were delicious, from breakfast to dinner. Highly recommended.

Our group had rustic expectations, but this place is so friendly, with surprisingly great food, and such a peaceful setting, even a resident ten foot crocodile! Very affordable. Food takes a while to be served, but just relax.

We have had a wonderful time at Ecolodge El Sombrero and surely recommend it to nature lovers and people who want to escape the more touristy sites in Petén! I can't agree with the 'ATM review'. Pros: - a peaceful location next to a beautiful lake in the middle of the jungle. Perfect location if you love the nature. -...

We stopped here on our way to visit the national park at Yaxha Peten. The service was wonderful and the people kind. We also ate a wonderful lunch at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this spot.

Stayed here for one night and wished we'd stayed longer. The lodge is right in the jungle and we could hear and see howler monkeys from our room. We arranged a boat ride of the lake to a small island with ruins and had the island to ourselves. Yaxha was so close and not overrun with tourists. The owners were...
