We stayed at Ni'tun before going to Tikal, which was perfect as we were taught so much more about the culture and history of Guatemala at Ni'tun. The staff cooked us spectacular meals which were served with style. We stayed in the lovely Hummingbird Suite - a cottage with beautiful floors, weavings, furniture, bathroom, and view of the lake. The... More

We spent 3 nights at Nitun and really enjoyed it. It's in breathtaking surroundings on the lake in the jungle and is incredibly peaceful. It's best accessed by boat - return transfer by boat to Flores is included in the price - and it's really magic approaching it from the lake. The room was spacious and very comfortable and the... This is an amazing, exotic, beautiful experience. Incredible birds and monkeys, gorgeous lake swimming, giant rustic comfortable rooms. Beautiful dogs and cats running around. The opportunity to explore local Mayan archaeology with one of the world's experts. But none of these things are the best bit about Ni'tun. That is the people that own and run the place, the incredibly... More

We stayed at Nitun as part of our honeymoon. Bernie met us at the airport and drove us to the lodge, where Lorena greeting us with a big hug. And the personal touches just continued from there! Our room was spacious and everything we needed. Dinner is eaten with the other guests, which is a really nice touch. The food... More

My husband and I spent two nights at Nitun Reserve prior to our visit to Tikal. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer! The night before our transfer to Nitun, we spent one night in Flores since we arrived on an evening flight from Guatemala City. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great for most of our... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lorena and Bernie have created a truly wonderful place to stay. The rooms are clean, large and very comfortable and the food is out of this world! Staff are very helpful when it comes to recommending and arranging tours in the area. I would certainly recommend Nitun to other travellers.

It is hard to come up with the right words but simply put, this place is special. There are only 4 or 5 casitas, each privately placed on the property. The setting is beautiful, it is quiet, the rooms large, comfortable, tasteful and Lorena, Arturo and Bernie genuinely awesome. Lorena can really cook, she prepared the local fish, blanco, one... I stayed at Nitun for 2 nights at the end of a whirlwind week stay in Guatemala, traveling with my 14 year old daughter. I was a hoping it would be the highlight of our travels and it was. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ni'tun is a small Guatemalan boutique lodge located within our own private reserve on the shores of beautiful Lake Peten Itza. We offer personal service, friendly staff, knowledgeable guides, drivers and tour operators. Kayaking is a must. We pride ourselves as being passionate about our cuisine. Local ingredients are used in our fusion meals. All itineraries are tailored and many destinations in the area can be visited. It is a peaceful spot to relax and be immersed in nature. Favorite amongst guests is chatting over dinner with other travelers and us, the owners. We are far away and near enough Flores island and we operate our tours and expeditions privately to the main sites, both for one-day tours as for longer camping expeditions throughout Peten, Belize, Honduras and Mexico. Collective tours to Tikal also available. Our main aim is to share our culture with travelers and to support sustainable activities that involve local communites as well as protected areas. Through low impact eco tourism, we are able to support our conservation projects. ... more   less
