My hiking partner and I stayed at the Refuge de Croix du Bonhamme on our first night on the TMB after a long uphill day on the TMB. We were glad to get there and glad that we had reservations as the refuge was crowded and appeared to be at full capacity. We were assigned a bunkbed (upper and lower...

We arrived at 5pm after a fairly tough day on the TMB. The welcome was very friendly & we were shown the room straight away - a reasonably spacious room for 6 people (although there were pull-out beds for when the refuge is busier in high summer, so perhaps it would be less comfortable in August). The beer was some...

Arrived just after 7 p.m. and joined dinner straight away. We got soup, polenta with cooked beef meat and some cheese. It was not a culinary experience and worse - there was far too little food at our table (had done 28 km on TMB that day). Very basic breakfast: Oatmeals - no cold milk - bread, jam, juice and...

The location is fantastic. It really is set in a wonderful location and I stayed here on my GR5 trek. It was very busy due to it being used by Tour de Mont Blanc walkers. My rating is low because there are too few toilets and washing facilities for so many people staying there. The food was good and plenty...

The views are as beautiful and the food as bad as other reviewers highlight. We read reviews before going, so we knew we shouldn't expect much from the food (or the coffee -- it was brutal!). I would have given 3 stars, but they got a 4th for having the best beer on the TMB. With the views, the Belgian...

This was our first refuge on our TMB trek and didn't know what to expect. We're pleased to find that most are nicer. Our main complaint was the poor food quality and quantity. Dinner started with lentil soup that was a few lentils in broth and stale bread. The main course was a sort of beef stew and polenta casserole...

This refuge is in the most amazing place, and has excellent views. Given that it is always extremely busy with walkers, it's amazing that the staff can be so friendly and helpful, and serve tea, coffee, beer, cake an evening meal, breakfast, etc. Just be aware that it will be busy in summer and so can be a bit of...

Had one night in a 4 bed dorm here while hiking the TMB. The location is the most spectacular of any refuge in the entire hike. I would stay here again just for the beautiful position. You eat dinner while watching the sun set over snow capped mountains with ibex's wandering around the peaks. The major downside was the food....

We just completed the TMB in July and this was our first of several refuge experiences. My rating is in that context. The refuge is in a very isolated spot and alternatives are at least a couple of hours away so it gets filled up. The staff could be described as eclectic and friendly. I could only understand about every...

Came here on the TMB. Excellent, really excellent view. Gave us a hearty and delicious lunchtime meal. Can't comment on the accom as we didn't stay here. Staff seemed very friendly. Difficult to get to!
