This is our 3rd visit to La Fonda. We were in Room 201 - a pleasant room with a lovely sea view. Our room was serviced each day and kept very clean. There is a fridge and a large bottle of water provided. All much appreciated. Since our last visit an underground car park has been built. This costs 5 euro each day and is very secure. It takes a couple of minutes to walk uphill from the car park to reception. If you want to chill/unwind, this is a good hotel. It’s very quiet. There is a small pool. Pool towels are available from reception. There is also a water refill station at the pool - really useful. Breakfast was adequate but not as good as it used to be. This little hotel was renowned for its home baked breads etc. We found the breakfast perfectly satisfactory but nothing special. Each morning I needed to reheat my cooked items in a microwave. Today they had run out of water melon. Yesterday they had run out of English tea - certainly not the end of the world, but avoidable with a bit more planning. We ate one night in the Escorpio restaurant which belongs to the hotel. We had the Market Menu - 14.95 euro for 3 courses. It was really good value and the food was well presented and very tasty. My main concern was the apparent lack of supervision on the part of management. On Monday there was no toilet paper in the ladies loo. I checked several times on Tuesday, Wednesday and today (Thursday) - still no toilet paper! I even mentioned it to the lady on reception yesterday, but still no loo paper! Obviously these toilets (solarium level) were not serviced in the 4 days of our stay. The loos at pool level were perfectly fine. On Monday, the at the roof top terrace there was an empty packet of cigarettes - very visible. It was still there on Tuesday, Wednesday and today. So someone is neglecting basic cleaning duties. The sun loungers were never set back in order at the end of the day. These are small things which could easily be fixed. I mentioned them to the receptionist when checking out. An earlier reviewer mentioned the lack of information in the rooms. Probably this is due to covid - but, yes - it would be helpful to know what number to ring to contact reception in an emergency. Would I return? I probably would. Benalmadena Pueblo is a very special place and there aren’t many hotels close by. I’d just like to see La Fonda looking a little less tired and a little better cared for.…
we stayed on the second floor for 5 night, the room was kept so beautifully clean, the bed was so so comfortable, aircon was lovely and quiet. table and chairs outside the room. we mostly used the terrace in the day which was lovely albeit it was unusually hot for june (not hotels fault!). Breakfast had lots of fresh fruit! which was lovely including the juicy oranges, its a small hotel so it would be wasteful to have more than they do! there are cold meats/cheese, hot food and eggs to order. Hotel got our taxi on the way back. We have re-book for November!
4th visit in the last 10 years, however the Hotel seems to have gone a little backwards and in my view would struggle to achieve 4 stars. Breakfast experience is poor, no table service plus the need to que to access limited buffet, then que again to ask for eggs is just not acceptable. It feels like a self service canteen. Rooms are starting to feel shabby chic, furnishings need an upgrade, no welcome packs in the room.
The hotel is difficult to find and parking is separate so hard when you have cases. The lifts were not working. We only stayed a night. At check in no info was given and there was no info pack in the room, there was a phone but couldn’t phone reception as didn’t know what the number was. The hotel seemed quiet and no open bar other than a formal restaurant. The room was boutique style and nice. The area had a small square near by with restaurants. Pool looked ok but limited loungers so unable to sit by the pool. Was fine for a night but would have struggled if had to stay longer.
The hotel is very pretty in a Moorish style. The rooms are a little old fashioned but this adds to the charm in my opinion. The hotel is right in the centre of Benalmadena Pueblo and close to lots of bars and restaurants. The views from the hotel rooms are amazing. My only small fault was the breakfast was a little disappointing.. it didn’t have a great selection and although laid out in buffet style it was laid out in a way that if one person was at the buffet another person couldn’t access it without being on top of the other. The selection was also quite limited just a few pieces of fruit, one jug of water, two types of bread etc.. I think if advertising as 4 star this should have been much better. It was adequate however.
Very disappointed after our short stay . This hotel had come highly recommended. Supposed to be 4* but would struggle to be a 2*. No informations in rooms or given at reception reguarding restaurant times etc. Very limited breakfast choice and what was supposed to be hot food was cold. Restaurant closed spa closed coffee shop closed bar closed . Furniture tired looking . Emailed with complaint with no response. We are supposed to be returning in May for our wedding with guests
Have walked past many times and decided to stay a night and also have the mercado del dia in Escorpio. Arriving mid morning in torrential rain, the reception were great in being able to check us in early to our room. A real bonus. We had a street view -a very large room with marble floors. Great WiFi too. Slightly faded grandeur as the room does have a well used feel. Our lunch in Escorpio was amazing (second visit) and we love the views once the rain had stopped. The hotel design has been influenced by Lanzarote’s Manrique and there are lovely Moorish touches. The views from the sun terraces are beautiful. Breakfast was included and was very nice although it is unclear that you can order eggs. After our lunch experience, I guess I was a little disappointed with the buffet. However, overall it was great and we will return.…
The hotel is wonderful, unique and well designed. With good faculties. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the waitress superb. What let the hotel down was the poor customer service from the reception staff, rude, unhelpful and lacking customer service skills. A welcome pack is lacking in the rooms to give full info on the services and times also emergency procedures info is lacking. A nice hotel that has the feel and customer service of a hostel.
We stayed her in September for our wedding anniversary, what a beautiful little hotel. We had a superior room with a huge terrace, staff were fabulous especially the lady who made our breakfast & cleaned our room. The area around the hotel is beautiful & i can't wait to stay again....hopefully in the near future
What a find we were visiting the village of Benalmadina Pueblo with friends and decided to have the Market Menu lunch in the Hotel La Fonda. 3 course lunch with a drink for 14 euros from entering this hidden treasure we were in for a surprising treat. The lunch was excellent the service could not have been better and the view was to die for. Needless to say we will be returning.
