The hotel's location garners praise, being convenient for beachgoers and shop enthusiasts alike. We have just got back from 11 nights at the Golden port and it was one of the best hotels we have stayed at in a long time. The facilities are great there are 3 outdoor pools and a small baby pool which are all clean, there is also an indoor one and jacuzzi. The staff are absolutely lovely and nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We would like to thank Jacqueline on reception...after check in we had a minor problem with our room and she dealt with it immediately. Rooms are spacious enough for what we needed and we had a pool view room 509 which I would recommend as the rooms facing the other way look over a road. It is in a great location around 10 minutes from 3 different beaches and the main strip. The rooms also had tea & coffee making facilities a fridge and air con. The food at this hotel is second to none its the best food we have ever had when we have been abroad so much choice and everything is branded too drinks etc. Javier and Toni in the dining room are fabulous and make you feel so welcome they are great with the children too. They are very strict with wearing masks and swiftly picked up on anyone who wasnt wearing one which was great and there are hand sanitizers situated everywhere. We felt really safe here in fact safer than in England, the hotel really does deserve alot of recognition the staff work incredibly hard and we really did enjoy our stay here I would definitely recommend it. Thank you to all the staff at the Golden port for making our stay comfortable and pleasant!

When we go away we always go all inclusive as it’s much easier, therefore booked Golden Port Hotel and Spa on an all inclusive basis.

However not everything was all inclusive.

You had to pay a deposit for pool towels plus one euro if you wanted a fresh towel, had to pay for safe, only certain drinks and snacks were available on all inclusive, all inclusive stopped at 1130pm and the spa wasn’t available on all inclusive, it was as if us all inclusive were an inferior race.

I must say the food was ok and the room was dated but was clean. Maria on entertainment was vibrant and worked her socks off.

Some of the staff in the restaurant were great.

The Gregal bar was lovely and most of the staff were ok.

However the majority of the bar staff in the main hotel were miserable, abrupt and rude. They couldn’t be bothered, I had a coffee and didn’t want squirty cream on it and the bar person wasn’t happy and muttered something. Lots of guests were of the same opinion and it could have spoilt our holiday if we had let it.

Suffice to say we will NOT be visiting the golden port hotel and spa again.

We decided to stay at this hotel, and I am glad we did. Only a short 15 min transfer from Reus airport. Hotel is in a great location, only 5-10 mins walk to the beach and the nearest bars and restaurants are very close by. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent on half board. We ate here every morning and evening and didn’t feel the need to venture out as the evening meals were similar yet varied each evening and lots of choice even for the fussiest eaters. The ice cream and snacks through the day were good also. The pool is lovely and very clean, and we always managed to get loungers okay. We stayed in room 654 and the pool view / sunny balcony was excellent, rooms cleaned daily and fresh towels always provided. If we were to visit salou again I think we would opt to stay here again. It has been very enjoyable. We were a young family travelling with a 4 year old.

First time in Salou and at this hotel. Upon arriving we were "greeted" by a somewhat rude receptionist. He checked us in, gave us no information about the hotel and appeared to just want to get rid of us.

We were in for further disappointment when we got to the room. We booked a standard room as we were only staying 3 nights. Substandard more like, I would have been disappointed with the room if we were told it was a 2.5-3 star hotel but for a 4 star it was shocking. The room was outdated, had no facilities, grotty, peeling paint and damp patches in areas. The air-conditioning only came on when the balcony door was closed as somehow it was hooked up to a sensor on the door. To turn it off, we had to open the balcony door, which was a problem at night resulting in us having to knock off the elecricity at night or the room was too cold.

The walls are paper thin, we could hear conversations in the next room or the TV on.

I later called reception to ask about an iron, unfortunately I think I got through to the same guy who checked us in. Was told it was €20 to rent an iron and had to be collected at reception....he then hung up on me!

The balcony itself was facing a main road, was noisy and looked straight across to a hillside of bushes and trees.

The hotel location isn't great either. Set back from the beach and no bars or restaurants open within the vicinity of the hotel.

We ordered pizza for lunch in the hotel bar, the pizza was cold and not cooked through!

Only positive, the main areas of the hotel, including pool area are clean and well kept and the bar staff are friendly and welcoming!

If you do choose to stay here, get one of the deluxe rooms overlooking the pool. They appear to be better. However, my advice, stay somewhere else!!!

No problem with hotel but have enclosed some extra information;
1; You will need mosquito spray. Yes you will have bits if you sit outside. Best to purchase the very best you can obtain plus bit cream.
( They will eat you)
2; The hotel will give you 99% of the entertainment etc you need. Not n
much else in the area for families. Beach, water ark, ride park,
Hence hotel. Cost to water park ride park $10 Euro each way. Beds on the beach x2 pulse umbrella $16 euros

3 Food good similar to most hotels but very clean and they pick up and spills etc very quickly.
4 Note they are very quick to take your plate and items . So if you need to keep any items make sure you tell others on the table.
5 The new block is nice but toilets are slippery very quickly as people from the pool enter. For some reason they are not cleaned as much as the other side?

6; The older block is good and very clean. If you book with Tui 1 x double bed and second child bed your view is always over the car park side.

7; I had 525 room which was good as one side backs onto the cleaner room. Hence very little noise.
8 Time from airport to hotel about 20 minutes.
9 Kids club very good all day. They work very, very hard. In fact for small children the best I have had. 9 plus children can play football and pools games. No disco
or older children items except pool and pool the game.

10 Good singers on at night. As well as shows.
Take care of those bits they do hurt.

We Stayed at Golden Port Hotel in Sep 2021.
Firstly can I say how safe we felt; masks had to be worn at all time when walking around the hotel and the hotel is very clean.
Hotel location very good only 10 mins walk to the shops and a lovely beach front.
Food and drink excellent, couldn’t fault
Finally all the staff were excellent, I tripped and broke my foot while out walking on the second night and the next morning the cleaning staff organised the hotel wheel chair for me when they saw me hobbling along the corridor, trying to reach the lift to get down to reception, A big thank you for doing that for me as other wise I don’t really know how I’d have made it down to reception, as at 69 years old it’s not easy hopping on 1 foot 🤣 I was in agony and very tearful, but they was so good to me and even brought me a chair to sit on in then corridor till the wheel chair arrived, a big thank you for doing that.
The restaurant staff were all very helpful, especially the Meet and great restaurant managers , when they saw me enter the restaurant all ways found me a table that fit the wheel chair in a area where it was not crowded, thank you for doing that for me
The bar staff were also good to me, making ice backs up for me, to put on me foot while sat on the sun bed during the day and in the evenings while sat in the entertainment lounge.
A big thank you also to the reception staff, who helped me contact the airline and printed documents of for us, for our return flight back to England, as I had to apply for special assistance for our flight back home and print of new boarding passes.
Last big Thank you is to Jacqueline whom helped me organise taxis to hospitals wheel chair hire etc and checked up on me every day to make sure I was ok and said anything I needed I just had to ask.
We will certainly be returning to see you all again next year, if not sooner
Jen and Phil

Overall a great hotel, but in need of some TLC.

Good points.
Lots of pools, both indoor and out. Some for the younger children, some for everyone and one for swimming.
Staff are really nice and always helpful.
Buffet has load to choose from, great mix of hot and cold food, plus the deserts are amazing.
Close to the beach and the shops, about 10 minutes to the beach walking with kids.
Rooms are big enough for all, we had 1 double, 2 singles and a good size cot (bigger than a travel cot, plenty of space for a 2 year old), with still space to move around.
Get the hotel beach towels and save on space on packing.
Gym, football/basketball court, bar, restaurant are all very good and modern.
Kids entertainment for all ages very good. We had 2-14 year olds in our group and there was something for them all.
The Spa is amazing, definitely worth using if you can get the chance. (€10 each for 90 minutes)

Bad points.
Rooms looked tired, needs to be painted again and some general maintenance. We were in the "old" side, not sure what the family suites were like as this is clearly a more modern building.
If you don't go all inclusive food and drinks at the hotel can be expensive. Chips and nuggets for the kids are €6.50, drinks are around €3 and alcohol drinks are around €5 and above. My recommendation would be to go to the local shops and bring food back (which they allowed). There is a 2nd exit out the back of the new building which saves about 5 minutes walking time.
Buffet food goes cold quickly, watch for them swapping it out and grab yourself some then.
The staff collect the plates and drinks quickly, which is normally very good but I lost 2 half filled drinks just going to the toilet.

I would definitely return to this hotel, I sure some of the tiredness are due to covid and not being able to spend much, but it won't put me off booking in the future.

Special mention for Javier in the restaurant area, always smiling and entertaining the kids.

We returned from staying at Golden Port Salou and Spa yesterday. We were a group of 5 (3 children and two adult friends) and every single one of us loved the hotel. It is a very family/child friendly and orientated hotel. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us, the cleanliness was excellent throughout the hotel and Jav in the restaurant had us laughing every time we entered the dining area-he’s a true asset to the hotel. The food choice was amazing, there is certainly something for everyone and the tables are nicely spaced out. The food was tasty and the table staff were very attentive, always wearing a smile. The location was great, a short walk to beaches, shops and restaurants and only a 15 minute walk to Portaventura. There is plenty of space around the pools and the entertainment was constant for adults and children. We had a room with roadside view but it was quiet, the air con worked and the room was cleaned daily as well as replacement towels and clean bedding. The room had its own fridge and kept our drinks lovely and cool. We booked directly with this hotel and got a bargain, same time next year is already double the price but well worth it. I would highly recommend this hotel, you won’t be disappointed. We flew into Barcelona which was a long journey to the hotel so next time I would fly to Reus airport. Thank you to all staff who made our holiday brilliant!

We’ve just returned from a great week in the Golden Port Salou.

As soon as we arrived we were met by Halloween decorations hanging in the lobby, different but a great addition.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful, room was clean and spacious, maids every day with fresh towels, even a small fridge in the room. You can also get a few British channels on the tv.

The pool areas were cleaned every day, getting a lounger ( there was plenty ) was no problem but that could be to do with it being October.

The restaurant was very good, a great selection of food freshly prepared and topped up regularly and the menu changed daily, Javier was great.
If you go half board then the drinks are also reasonable priced, 2.60 euro for a bottle of Heineken, 3.30 euro a pint and 2 euro for a soft drink.

My 10 year old daughter loved Goldys kids club, which was on throughout the day. The evening entertainment was ok, nothing special but added to the evening.

The hotel is set about a 10 minute walk outside of the town centre and 25 mins from Port Aventura, so is well located.

Just recently spent a week in Golden Port Salou & Spa at the start of September 2022. We stayed room only basis as we prefer to eat out. The hotel is kept very clean with your rooms cleaned daily. The room we stayed in had a small fridge which was not the best you struggle to put more than two bottles in it. there is a kettle in the room and plenty of tea and cofee supplied. The safe in the room cost 20 euro for the week along with a 10 euro deposit. The air con in the room does keep the room cool providing you leave running all the time. The wifi is free and is a good connection so you can stream your Netflix or what ever you choose. there is a TV in the room we tended to use our tablets. There is plenty of pools and entertainment is on every evening along with some pool entertainment. The location is great not to far from the town and beach. If you go through one of the restaurants you can use your card to go in and out of the hotel which gets you to the town and beach a little quicker. Salou itself is great the beach is really nice and the town has everything you need. Plenty of places to eat drink and lots of entertainment. Salou for me is more for families and couples so it well suited us.
