Stopped by unexpectedly, had a couple of days to kill in the area and wanted to be right on the water. We got a room at the last minute right on the Guadalupe river and tubed down the next day. All staff was very nice and helpful. Great location. We will definitely be back!!!

We came to New Braunfels for a nice weekend get away with a couple of friends the weekend of August 19th 2011. From reviewing the website, the property looked river "rustic", but not bad, and with a rate of $170/night we assumed we would be staying in a clean room. Apparently, hoping for a clean room was far fetched! Upon...

This place was really disgusting. We were there for our annual family reunion, and we could not stop talking about what a dump this place was. From a roach in someone's bed, to dirty underware found on top of the refrigerator, to dust at least an inch thick up and down the walls, from none of the lights working in...

We just had family get together at this disaster of a facility over the weekend. Our room rate was 179.00 a night, which for a decent place isn't terible. The problem, is that this is FAR from a decent place. Here are a few little nuggets of fun from the rooms we had; 1) Dust and cobwebs EVERYWHERE, 2) Roach...

We recently stay at the Outpost Lodge for a family reunion. We had 54 people from 7 states and the lodge was an excellent place to accomidate all of us. It is a nice central location from all the attractions everybody wanted to see. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and very polite. All the kids...

We stayed at the Gruene River Outpost Lodge and was very pleased with the location and the ease to / from the river. For the price you will pay in this town during peak season this is a great location for river floaters. We really enjoyed the whole property and how it caters to families as well as friends just...

We stay here at least once a year. You can fit 4 in the bigger cabins. It's really all that you need if you aren't looking for luxury, There is a little kitchenette, a shower, a small dining table, a sink, a restroom and an a/c. We just go to float the river and enjoy Gruene/New Braunfels. The room is...

We were right on the river. It was so convenient to be able to walk out of your room, rent a tube, and they will drive you to where your float begins! Everyone who worked there was so very nice! Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, and I am looking forward to staying there again next summer!

My husband and I decided to roadtrip for our honeymoon. We stayed two nights at the Outpost and absolutely loved it! The cabins were right on the river, awesome picnic areas. Tubing was super convenient with the outfitter right on the premise. Beds were a little squeaky, toilet wabbly but we werent looking for high dollar luxury. Sitting outside, listening...

This place has a great location for all you want to do in the area. We stayed two separate nights and were able to check in early both times. Enjoyed sitting on the banks of the river with a tasty beverage watching toobers, fish and turtles. This is a lodge not a 5 star hotel so think "camping" and you...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Come on down and enjoy our laid-back, family owned river lodge in New Braunfels along the beautiful banks of the Guadalupe River. The Lodge is a place to let your hair down, relax, grab a cold beer and enjoy exciting activities on the river, from kayaking to tubing and rafting. Play a game of volleyball, dive into the sparkling swimming pool, or play video games on the big screen in our clubhouse. If none of that strikes your fancy, head to historic Gruene for some local shopping, enjoy our Texas flavors or people watch with a glass of Texas wine under the trees. Don't forget to check out Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. Later in the afternoon, back at The Lodge, relax in a hammock under the canopy of pecan and black oak trees. As night falls, the fireflies let you know that it is time for a campfire, s'mores and maybe a ghost story. Our accommodations and location are perfect for Snowbirds or Winter Texans as known by the locals. Many of our rooms have full kitchens and queen-size pillow-top beds. "It is a wonderful property with none of the cookie cutter look and feel of "today". It is a home away from home feel." ... more   less
