We stayed here hoping to see Autumn colours at Lost Maples State Park. We were disappointed with the Park but very impressed with our lodging. Very clean and tidy. We slept well. Our hosts struck the right note of being friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Home cooked breakfasts (and sometimes cake!) were very good. Wi-fi was very reliable. If... More

This is a place I would strongly recommend to anyone that is visiting Garner State Park/Maple Falls Natural Area. This was my first time staying in a place other than a hotel. I checked in yesterday and the owner was very welcoming. The house is not only beautiful, but immaculately kept. It is very peaceful there. Unfortunately, a few hours... More

Since so much has been written about this place, I'll keep it simple: All the good reviews are correct! We stayed with 2 other couples we know and had the place to ourselves. It was awesome. Running a B&B is hard. Running a B&B really well is super-hard. Peggy and Ron somehow make it look easy. Hint: Come to breakfast... More

This was our first time staying at a Bed & Breakfast and had no clue what to expect, overall it was really nice. This place is really pretty but if you are arriving after dark it's easy to pass it. The house is beautiful, we were welcomed at the door introduced to the other guests and offered homemade pumpkin bars.... More

Hosted by a gracious couple who strive to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible, and the best breakfast (especially the biscuits) we ever had, and we have stayed at many B&B's. Each of the three rooms and private baths are well appointed, even had my Oil of Olay body wash. Lovely grounds and you can stroll down... More

We were going to meet up with family at Garner State Park but we wanted to stay a little bit away where it was quiet. We found Bend o' the River and it was the best decision ever! Peggy and Ron were awesome! The first couple nights we got in super late and we missed the cake Peggy left out... More

I have to admit this was my first experience at a real B&B, as in a bedroom in someones home. The owners Peggy and Ron are wonderful hosts. The room was very clean and comfortable and included a large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub that was wonderful. I had the best bubble bath ever! Our hosts were helpful in guiding... More

We were doing a ramble through the Texas Hill Country and needed a place to stay near Utopia on a Saturday Night. No where could be found that would accept a one night reservation. I stumbled upon a booking website (backroadstexas.net) that had a category of one night reservations. This led us straight to the Bend 'O the River B&B.... More

To "Life_Tourist," who said this property is "not a B&B," I submit that they don't know what a B&B is. And I suppose that Ron could see into the bathroom if he had a 40-foot extension ladder or a cherry-picker. Puh-leeze! The place is beautiful, spotlessly clean, the breakfast is great, and the owners are very nice and hospitable. It... More

Rooms are bedrooms in a house. There is not a key. You can lock the doors from the inside of the room, but there is no way to lock the room from the outside. When we first arrived to check in, the house was locked up and no one answered the door. We had to call the number we booked... More

We are very sorry you did not enjoy your stay. The description of the rooms gives the information that this is our home. We rarely lock the front door because we are a business but we had forgotten to unlock it after being in S.A. the day before. There were 2 other doors, both unlocked. No conversation can be overheard... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are a full service bed & breakfast located in the Texas Hill Country. We are minutes away from Lost Maples and Garner State Parks. 3 bedrooms on the second floor of our home are available. We also have a vacation rental that is a double wide on the Sabinal River just a short walk from the B&B. Each of the B&B bedrooms has a private bath and a king bed. One of these bedrooms is a larger suite with a sitting area and flat screen TV, a jacuzzi tub and walk in shower . Stair climbing is required. There is a small fridge on the loft/sitting area outside rooms. Free wifi is available in the B&B. We have a large rock patio with a fire pit. Star gazing from our zero gravity lawn chairs is a real treat if you live in a big city. A gas BBQ grill is available upon request. We welcome our guests to share our comfortable living area. There are tables to play cards, dominoes, or do one of the many puzzles we have. On arrival, we give a tour of the house, explain where the public access areas are and offer a snack and beverage. Local sites are the two state parks mentioned above. Limited dining for lunch and supper available in Utopia, more in Bandera (30 min), Leakey (25 min.), Kerrville (1 hr). Summer is great for floating the Frio from Happy Hollow in ConCan. The Sabinal is a small river and the last few years dries up when there is no rain. In the Fall the Maples and Red Oak trees turn beautiful colors. We enjoy meeting people and would love to host you. Feel free to call with any questions. ... more   less
