We splurged for a second floor room with a deck overlooking the courtyard . Not a great view past the courtyard but pleasant to sit out on a cool evening. The room was not large, especially with king size bed, but it was comfortable and had amble chargers for devices. Kind of pricey compared to the other chain hotels just...

This Hotel has a nice history. It is one of several build in the 1930s in western Texas/southern New Mexico. They've done a nice job of renovating it. In front of the Hotel is a courtyard with a large fountain at its center. The temp in the courtyard feels a good 10 degrees cooler than outside it. The lobby is...

This historic hotel is always a favorite stop in our travels each year. The staff is friendly, and they always have our keys ready and waiting for our arrival--excellent! All hotels should do this, making check-in easy! Bravo! This year we had a room overlooking the courtyard, with a tiny balcony. Our room was small but adequate, as usual there....

This is a cool spot that will make you feel like you've stepped back in time 80 years. The hotel's renovation pays proper homage to its heritage. The restaurant offers great selections. I will say, I do think my room 254 was haunted. Overall, I highly recommend.

We stayed at Hotel El Capitan twice on a recent trip to Arizona. This is a very nice hotel. Probably the best in Van horn but we've never stayed at the others. Comfortable beds, nice linens, free bottled water, good TV selections, very clean and the nicest staff we've encountered in some time. Everyone there seemed genuinely happy, friendly and...

What do you need in a hotel? 1. Good night's sleep. Check, more or less. The bed was delightfully comfortable. But the pillows were literally bricks. Very hard. I'm glad I brought my own pillow! And one other problem--I was reminded of the hotel/train scene in "My Cousin Vinny." Vinny Gambini: "Yesterday you told me that freight train hardly ever...

What a great surprise ... this historic hotel in the west Texas town of Van Horn is a gem! Some of the rooms are a little small, however, very clean and nice amenities. Love that after the restorations you can still feel the historic ambience. Fridge, microwave, free Wi-Fi. They offer fruit in the lobby as well as a jigsaw...

We stayed for one night at the Hotel El Capitan. It's a beautiful historic place, the room was quite small but clean. Complimentary wifi worked well and breakfast was O.K. We've read about the train in other reviews and were prepared for some noise but with earplugs it was not that bad. It was a nice stay for one night.

Who knew? There is actually a good hotel in this small dusty little west Texas town. Pay extra for one of the deluxe king rooms with the large balconies, otherwise the rooms are fairly small, yet still well appointed. Baths in all rooms are quite small but functional.

This is a great hotel! It is clean and the beds are comfortable. The rooms are small but it is in a renovated old building. Check in and out was easy. We ate at their restaurant and the food was delicious. We ordered tapas as our appetizer and it was tasty! My husband and I split an order of Chicken...
