The reason I rated this a 2 was: carpet in hallways and stairs are dirty. Room smelled musty. Dirty around bathtub, toilets would not flush, Fruit flies around breakfast area. The clerk was very nice and helpful, Tia Juanita‘s Fish Camp restaurant is right next-door, and would highly recommend eating there.

This is hotel is ok as Hampton’s go.. usual comfy bed and generally seems clean. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing as items weren’t replenished and breakfast hours were 0600 to 0900 on a weekend. All in all, ok for a nights sleep but the poor stocking and 0900 closing of the breakfast buffet somewhat spoiled the overall satisfaction.

The room was nice with the exception of the mold on the shower curtain, and the fitted sheet on the king bed did not fit well and kept popping off the corners. The A/C was not the best either. Got too warm in afternoon and evening.

Will never stay here again! Room smells like a wet animal and very musty. No water pressure. Had to flush the toilet 4 times for a small amount of toilet paper to go down. Bed wasn’t up to Hampton standards. Very hard and uncomfortable and linens didn’t smell clean. Shower was disgusting and very slippery. Digital keys do not work. Cars were broken in to overnight. One of the in view of the front lobby. Three police officers were investigating upon our checkout .

AC was locked to only go down to 74F, that is 10F above normal AC setting for hotel room in SE Texas where it is hot and humid. The was no exhaust fan in bathroom, no fan at all. How can one take shower in bathroom and prevent total fogging of all surfaces if we are not provided bathroom fan, which is absolute code requirement device by the way! Microwave power cable did not actually reach the power outlet in the wall. Found it just dangling in back. Went to plug in and it was several feet short of reaching an outlet. Now this is just plain dumb. We had to pull microwave from cabinet and place on floor or in bed by an outlet. This is dangerous and the person whom had to move did injure their back in the process and was very upset. TV, well there was none if you tried something as simple as pushing power button on remote. Physically there was a TV monitor and a DTV box, but none of it was connected. We had to connect the DTV cables from wall to box, power to box, then using TV menu set input manually to the cable connection input option. Also, with each TV power cycle, we had to redo the process of resetting the input channel, manually by walking up to TV, very annoying and very unnecessary and old school process. Continental breakfast, the coffee cup caps DID NOT fit the cup. The brand OEM for this is so bad it should be outlawed. Dozens and Dozens of peopled struggle to put a lid on their coffee. There is no need for that, just by the next grade up cup/cap to avoid issue. Why is this important, the coffee was served at 180F, well above touch safe, so if the lid does not fit or function to hold the cheep cup from crushing it will fail, and I watched this happen several times. It happened to me, while holding cup the lid popped right off and hot coffee when all over my hand. If I was the sewing type, well.......... With that said, the next day, coffee was still from the day before. I jokingly asked reception if that was the same coffee from yesterday as it was ambient temperature, and as I watched cream not dissolve, but to my surprise the reception response was, "yes, thats probably been there since yesterday, she should be refilling it soon." This was at at 8:30 AM. The when I booked total did not match the invoiced amount unknow upcharge of $60, ongoing banking dispute. Reception employees do not follow normal personnel hygiene protocol as that smell will welcome you in.

This hotel is definitely not up to Hampton standards. The maintenance was terrible and the place needs an upgrade. I think the management is trying to save money rather than create a Hampton-like experience for guests. There was mold around shower and floor, broken calk on edge of wall, light bulb not working, only one half-used roll of toilet paper on a holder made for two with no second roll available, sink drained slowly, no hot water for shower in evening – only warm came from faucet, no coffee maker or clock in room, elevator that was scary – terrible noise and vibrations when traveling between floors, decal missing on elevator door (it was like that last year but no one seems to care), breakfast was so minimal: no sweet rolls at all, cheap bread choices, cold oatmeal, no bananas, eggs were out so had to contact staff to replenish, no one to clean tables after a guest left – very unacceptable and unhealthy.

Needs work. Not the Hampton Inns that I am used to….overall, there is a musty smell to the rooms and they need updated as carpet/amenities are worn. Original room had water damage in bathroom. Reported it immediately to front desk and was switched to a different room, which was awesome. Same musty smell, just no leaks. Leak did not look new as wallpaper was hanging off of the wall and smell. Elevator worked, just sounded like it was struggling to operate. Digital keys do not work. Room was clean and had plenty of hot water. Breakfast was mediocre. I did a quick walk around and left without getting anything. Again, not your typical Hampton breakfast. Attention is needed to foliage in front of hotel as there was a dead, broken in half palm tree out front. Location is good, right off I-10 and next to Tia Juanita’s which I highly recommend. Short, one road drive down into Galveston too. Probably would not stay at this Hampton again unless it was renovated.

Disappointed in our stay. Outside has stain runs etc everywhere. Room was most disappointing. Huge dead roach in room. Bottle cap from previous guest by bed. Ripped carpet. Dent in wall. Wallpaper coming apart in several locations. Dirty in some areas. Needs caulking in other areas. Wife mentioned the room stunk. We just arrived here less than an hour ago when writing this review. See pictures for yourself. Sad Hampton Inn...overpaid big time. Only positive is Staff.

I felt like I had to move around under the shower head to get wet. Other than that, the room was up to the Hampton Inn standard, which is always above the competition. As a business traveler, I would not stay here again due to the very poor water pressure.

We stayed here previously and did not have any issues really, so we came back. There are no other options in Winnie to stay at for Hilton, and I had points to use. Like everyone, we are struggling financially right now, but wanted to take the kids to the beach for Father's Day weekend, and enjoy a little get away. I had been saving my points for the right time, and this seemed like a perfect time. Now I regret wasting my points on this trip, because it was far less than enjoyable to say the least! On the Hilton site, when I was booking, I noticed a $50/ non-refundable pet deposit, so I was prepared to pay that. However, after check out, I was charged $150!!!! I called the hotel and he said that it is a $50/day fee for a pet. That is not what the site says. I emailed Hilton for assistance with this matter and they have yet to fix the issue. The charge is no longer "pending", and it has officially posted. My dog did not make any messes at all! This is not ok! I need my $100 back on my card! The beds are HARD and the breakfast leaves A LOT to be desired! Our room keys (digital and physical cards) kept deactivating and we could not get in our room, so we had to keep going down to the desk or knocking on our door for someone to let us in, if someone was even in there. The pillows were not at all supportive or comfortable! There were not even any pillows for our boys to use on the pullout couch, and the fitted sheet was either dirty or stained. When the boys went to go get pillows to use and to grab my husband and I an extra pillow as well (due to the ones we had severely lacking in filling), the lady at the front desk told them she could only give "2 extras", and by "extras" she was referring to the ones for the boys! Those wouldn't be extras though as they did not even have pillows in the room to begin with! Extras imply "in addition to"... not only. The parking lot was not full at all so not sure why it was such a huge deal to give a few pillows! The pool was under maintenance on Sunday, and the kids were really disappointed that they could not swim, as we left a large portion of time for them to do so on Sunday, and the pool was PACKED (although we understood this was out of anyone's control) on Saturday, so that was a no go as well. Also, FYI... the mirror on the closet door is broken at the bottom corner and could pose as a safety hazard. I will not be staying at Hilton again if this is their new standard! It is not ok to just charge someone's card for more than agreed upon when booking. I have screenshots of the fees stated and it does not state anything about $50/day!!! This is RIDICULOUS! You just made money where it was not necessary! I need to hear back from someone on how this will be addressed!
