If you are looking for a motel that is super clean, quiet and a good place to sleep. This is the motel for you. The new owner is happy to accommodate requests if she can and really knows the area. If, like me, you don't like the constant hum of heat or air conditioning, the fact that I could open...

This motel is in a rural setting with a lot of open space but only a short drive on historic route 7A to the attractions and entertainment of Bennington, a charming small New England town. The place and its owner is dog friendly. Our room was good sized with a fridge, coffee maker and microwave and a comfortable bed. Nearing...

I really like the idea it's on scenic VT 7A, not on a commercial Rd.(but only minutes from town.) It's Vermont! Has large and pleasant grounds. A very popular restaurant is only a short stroll across the lawn.A new thing, they are displaying works of local artist and artisans. These items for our enjoyment, and can be purchased. You should...

The staff at this motel was very nice, and I hope they can upgrade this place and make it a success. We checked in here due to the TripAdvisor rating, and we were really let down when we walked into our room. I do not know who reviewed this place, but I cannot believe that it has such a high...

We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your accommodations. As you noted in your review, we at The Harwood Hill work hard at providing the best service - you gave us five stars on that, and we appreciate it! That being said, if you felt we provided excellent service, why didn't you speak to us about...

We needed a place to sleep and this motel was one of the only few available so we tried it out. We picked it for the very low cost but were very happy. When our room didn't have hot water we were quickly moved. There was great coffee for the maker, cable and internet. Comfy bed, good amount of room...

We had stayed here a few times before and stayed again on this year's New England trip. The motel has new owners. They are doing a great job. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The motel is just outside Bennington and convenient to town and the area attractions.

I stayed here when I spent a weekend visiting my son at Bennington College. The hotel is very convenient to everything in Bennington, Bennington College (just a couple of minutes away), and the Robert Frost Stone House in Shaftsbury. You can enjoy all of the beauty, historic sites and museums of Bennington easily from here with a car. There are...

The place has changed owners, and we found them to be very helpful in addressing a small issue we came across. The area is wonderful, and we enjoyed our glass of wine overlooking their back yard. We had a cabin, which is nothing fancy, but certainly met all of our expectations, especially considering their rates. Will return again next fall.

I agree with all those who have rated this place highly! It's delightful, cozy, dog-friendly, and AAA approved. Grills, a nice lawn behind the cabins, and a beautiful view of Mt. Anthony! Right next to The Publyk House, too - a lovely New England restaurant with delicious food.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A boutique motel where the arts meet hospitality! The new Harwood Hill was launched in the Winter of 2015 by a foursome of lifelong friends with a love of the arts and a dream of creating a special place filled with both natural and crafted beauty. Our vision preserves the tradition of providing peaceful respite for travelers with the new concept of showcasing the works of local artists and artisans alongside our own collection and the work of our artist-in-residence. At the Harwood Hill, every room is a gallery. We have also forged connections with area museums, our renowned Bennington Potters, and a wide array of galleries and shops to provide opportunities for our guests to explore the local art scene (at a discount!). Relax in one of our swings or hammocks, gather at one of our popular bonfires under the stars, picnic by the grill, or stroll with your friends through the sculpture garden on our lovely grounds in the shadow of Mount Anthony. Or venture out to discover Southern Vermont's many charms and explore its history. Our convenient Historic Route 7A location provides easy access in any direction for antiquing, hiking, golfing, fishing, bicycling, river tubing, or just visiting family and friends. The area is home to many fine restaurants, and one of the best is right next door at The Publyk House, an easy stroll from your room. Join us for a unique arts experience that highlights Vermont's unique blend of progress and tradition. We'd love to be your hosts! ... more   less
