If you love traditional New England inns, you will love the Mountain View. From the minute you step into this charming inn located along the Mill Brook, you will feel as though you have been transported into the quintessential New England farmhouse--wide plank floors, quilt-covered canopy beds, a cast iron wood stove, and more. Originally built in 1826, the core...

Had an excellent experience. It is an old house, 1850ish, well kept, 40 years with the present owners Susie and Fred. We stayed 6 days - 5 adults, 3 children (10-16). Conveniently close to Sugarbush, Mt. Ellen and cross-country skiing. Rooms were clean and comfortable, each with its own bathroom/shower. Comfortable beds - mine (not all) even had two electric...

This was our first Inn of a four day hike. We enjoyed the accommodations and surroundings. The meals were exceptional. We enjoyed visiting with the Innkeepers while we enjoyed the evening on the porch. With the Innkeeper's recommendation if we have a rainy day to visit the Shelburne Museum. On Sunday we decided to visit this museum and found the...

If you are there at a non-busy time, the owners will let you choose your room which is nice. The inn itself felt modernized, but the bedding (sheets, quilts, etc) looked as though it has been in use since the 1980's. Fred and Susan are very nice individuals, but my wife and I were a little offended when they insisted...

My husband and I spent 6 nights at different inns in Vermont and this was BY FAR the worst. The owners are very nice but unlike the other inns we stayed at they eat dinner and breakfast with the guests. The night we stayed there it was just us so dinner was just us and the owners. It was really...

We stayed at the Mountain View for a July weekend of hiking in the Green Mountains. Fred and Susan greeted us as we arrived (first name basis, of course!) and made us feel right at home - helping us quickly slow to "Vermont time". They were very accommodating, even offering to help us spot a car for our point-to-point hike!...

This past weekend, my wife and I made last minute reservations and stayed at the Mountain View Inn. The area was crowded with visitors for fall foliage and Canadian Thanksgiving. Nevertheless, the owners - Sue and Fred Spencer were very gracious and accommodating. The rooms may be a tad small, but they are very comfortable and cozy, and everything is...

I have no reservations about recommending the Mountain View Inn, I have stayed here several times over the last few years - several times when few or no other guests were there and once when the inn was completely full. The location, the history and the special service you receive from the owners are what makes this inn stand out...

The owners, Fred and Suzy, are very friendly and do a great job operating this cozy inn. The location is ideal, located about 5 minutes by car from Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, and the town. The breakfast, especially the blueberry pancakes, bacon, and cofffee, was excellent. The house has a historic feel to it and the owners have done a...

We stayed at Mountain View Inn for one night as the beginning of our Country Inns along the Trail hiking experience in Vermont. Fred and Suzy have owned the inn for something like 38 years, and they have done a lovely job of making it feel homey and comfortable. We had a nice dinner on the night of our arrival,...
