I stayed here for a night on my long distance Appalachian Trail backpacking trip. Very clean hostel, affordable and friendly family that runs the place. The location is conveniently located right off the trail. Its a very unique place to stay and I highly recommend staying here. They have a hiker special that includes bunk, showers, laundry, pizza, soft drink...

On the Appalachian trial, Bear's Den is a great place for a moderate hike with children. I have been walking their trails for almost 30 years. Right on the Loudoun County/Clarke County border, it is accessible for DC folks and the views of the Valley from the rock outcroppings are stunning!

Dana & John, we had a fabulous Easter! You two and Glenn really made our Virginia stop on our roadtrip such a pleasure. It was so peacefully magical perched there in the woods, all the hikers love of Mother Nature nestled into the walls and foundations. Its simply, Nirvana. Thank you, hugs ;-) Ah yes, you're asking about the ghost...

We met our daughter and her cousin at the Bears Den to congratulate them on making it halfway through the Appalachian Trail. There are 10 bunks, showers, washer dryer and pizza and pint of Ben and Gerry's ice cream for dinner. Banana pancakes for breakfast. The staff was wonderful. The second night we stayed in a private room with a...

We stayed one night at the Bear's Den while hiking the AT. There are many options available to guests: pitching your tent in the yard, sleeping on a bunk bed in a few different areas (including what I heard termed "the women's room"), a private cottage, and a private room with your own shower/toilet. Built in the 30's out of...

Stayed here 2 nights while backpacking on the Appalachian Trail. It is about 100 yards from the AT so easy to find. For $30 you get a frozen pizza, soda, and pint of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream, plus a bunkbed to sleep on. Laundry machine and a place to hang out. Bear's Den Rocks view at sunset is famous....

Patrice and Justin provide a pleasant retreat for this section hiker. The den is exceptionally clean and well organized. The Den has everything a hiker needs, including utensils for meals, sitting areas with piano and a rocker, and a huge dining room. A shower and bargain pizza plus ice cream address basic needs. Our visit was delightful.

We stayed at the Bear's Den Cabin/Cottage that is maintained by the family at Bear's Den Hostel. There were two space heaters, a wood burning fireplace, and a wood burning stove that were on for entire weekend. The first night was almost unbearably cold. After calling the hostel they gave us the option of spending more time in the hostel...
