Wonderful 3 night stay at Casa Cubana, we had two of the four rooms available, one of which was the balcony room overlooking the courtyard. Both bedrooms were beautifully appointed and the courtyard setting was wonderful and a lovely place to relax. Breakfast was prepared fresh every morning and taken at a communal dining table, which was very social. The location of the hotel is a short stroll away.from the town centre and our host Esther was a mine of information about places to eat & visit. Esther arranged a kayaking trip around the Isletas with Vladimir which is highly recommended and we also visited Volcan Mombacho and Masaya while we were there. We loved our stay at Casa Cubana, thank you!

Wow. We had the pleasure of staying five nights at Casa Cubana and this little boutique hotel is a gem. All the praise from older reviews is still true. Casa Cubana is an oasis in a picturesque town. We extended an extra night and both of our rooms were absolutely lovely. Well appointed with love to details, comfortable and spotless clean. It's the perfect place to hangout and chill in a wonderful environment. Breakfast was made with love and super fresh ingredients every morning. The hotel itself is a great find already (and I have stayed in a number of wonderful boutique hotels). What this place sets apart from other cozy and well appointed hotels are Esther, Andy and Hazel. We not only fell in love with Casa Cubana but felt home after a short while. Esther, the manager makes you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. In fact, communication was easy m great before we even arrived. She will (literally) go any extra mile for you and was not only interesting to talk to but also a great help by suggesting places and organising day trips. We also liked the interaction with other guests (all of them were regulars to Casa Cubana and we can see why they keep coming back). So will we for sure. Thanks again for everything. Hasta la proxima vez.

We had a fabulous stay at Casa Cubana. The rooms are beautiful: spacious, stylish, clean. Extreme good value for money! The patio with hammocks and pool a hidden gem. But the real gem was the team: Esther: you can't wish for a better host! Helpful, accurate, energetic, funny and kind! Such a beautiful person! Andy: part of the team. He helped us with all our transfers: he's a very good and cautious driver and took us on a great tour. He's such a reliable and kind and great person! Hazel: cooked us great breakfasts and kept the rooms immaculately clean. We came back to Casa Cubana a couple of times during our 7 week trip in Nicaragua because we loved it so much! Thank you Esther, Andy, Hazel and Bella for our unforgettable time in Granada! ❤

Casa Cubana is a beautiful boutique hotel located in Granada. It is just a short walk away from Park Central and all the shopping and restaurants, but far enough away so that it is quiet at night. Andy and Ester were wonderful. They know the area like the back of their hands, and provided solid advice about local eateries and attractions. Ester arranged two tours for us which I highly recommend. One was the boat tour with Vladmir, where we toured the islets and saw all kinds of birds and even some monkeys. The other was a a trip to Mombocho Volcano (we did the Puma trail, moderately challenging) which included a tour of the coffee plantation. The hotel itself is authentic Nicaraguan and has real character. The main area where guests hang out has a cute little pool in a tropical courtyard to cool off in after a long day of sightseeing. Some turtles live there and so does Bella the friendly dog, and hummingbirds were frequent visitors to the hibiscus. The breakfast area and kitchen are very nice and Hazel cooks a great breakfast every morning. She made something different every day we were there. There is lots of original artwork, and I loved our room. I usually have trouble sleeping when traveling south because of heat or a too loud air conditioner, but this was not an issue here. The room temperature was comfortable and when I did use the A/C once, it was a quiet one. Our friends we were traveling with had a room upstairs overlooking the pool, and it was also a fantastic, roomy and charming room. Restaurants: The food is generally good in Granada, and my favorite place we went in walking distance of Casa Cubana were The Garden Cafe, The Bistro Estrada, Bocadillos Tapas Kitchen & Bar, and I loved La Frontera, where they play classic rock. . There is also a great cafe nearby called Maria Elena's. Ester and Andy really put in effort to help us get the most out of this vibrant Colonial city. I highly recommend both Granada and the Casa Cubana.

One of the most beautiful and outstanding colonial houses / pensions we ever met (+50 countries visited), Casa Cubana from Granada, Nicaragua is a “little guilty pleasure” garnished with top colonial decorations, nice bedrooms, lushy open pool, gorgeous open bar. But above all, the maximum overall rating - 10 on the line - goes to its remarkable host and manager, Esther Naegeli. Thanks for tours to Masaya volcano and Cocibolca lake for kayaking. Granada together with Leon (Nicaragua) and Antigua (Guatemala) are the top 3 colonial cities of Central America to be visited.

This was an amazing stay and felt more staying with friends than at a hotel. Esther, the manager, was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, breakfast fantastic and the entire hotel radiates a wonderful charm. I regret that I could only stay for one night.

We had the pleasure of spending 3 memorable nights at this wonderful place run by Esther. She, Andy and Hazel were fantastic in explaining everything to do in Granada and the surrounding area and lining up tours if need be. The accommodations were lovely and centered around a small landscaped courtyard with a relaxing pool. Breakfast varied daily and were excellent. Clean and accommodating and great for the price. Esther, a Canadian, of course speaks English & Spanish as well does the staff. We definitely felt like we were family — especially having sweet Bella around to get a little loving & have her belly rubbed. We definitely will be back if we ever find our way back to Nicaragua and highly recommend staying with them. Gary & Cassie - USA

My wife and I stayed 3 nights over Christmas 2019. Esther, the manager, made us feel totally at home. She was in touch before we arrived to see if we needed any help with transport. She is great to chat with, a little eccentric and a whole lot of fun, very open personality and takes exceptional care of her guests, as indeed does the whole team. The property only has 5 rooms I think, makes for an intimate feel. There is a stunning roofless courtyard in the middle filled with plants and a small pool, and the room we stayed in was larger than most inner-city apartments, based as it was over 2 levels with an additonal ginormous bathroom/shower area. Breakfast was good, slightly more than the usual gallo pinto and eggs (so for example a breakfast style burrito with home-made tomato sauce). Center of town is a bit of a walk, maybe 10 mins away by foot, but not an issue as the whole town is beautiful and just one block away is probably my favourite square in the town (looks like the grounds of an old convent that I guess was maybe one day attached to the adjacent Xalteva Church) where we sat and watched the world pass by in the late afternoons.

Caca Cubana in Granada, Nicaragua is one of our very favorite places to stay, and we’ve traveled Internationally for many years. Why do we go back year after year? Well, gorgeous rooms (all with a view of the tropical garden and dipping pool); delicious breakfasts (thanks, Hazel!); the ambience (an inviting open area with hammocks & rocking chairs for chilling with a beer or good book); affordability; and best of all, Esther, whose friendliness & helpfulness make all the difference. With Andy, Casa Cubana’s cheerful & knowledgeable driver/tour guide, Esther can help arrange airport transportation & day trips. So, try Casa Cubana. I guarantee you’ll love it.

Not sure about visiting Nicaragua because of what people around you have said ( having never visited themselves?) Take a deep breath, smile and book your trip. I spent nearly 2 weeks in Nicaragua and loved it. I spent 4 nights at Casa Cubana with Esther, Hazel and Andy - I'm so grateful that I did. Every question before arriving was answered comprehensively in emails, and heads up given due to my arrival from Panama with regards to Yellow Fever regulations in Nicaragua. Esther answered questions before my arrival, and she was very helpful with directions, maps and options for Granada while I was there. Hazel makes a killer banana pancake and omelet - you are well fed before you leave the casa very morning! Andy picked me up from the airport, and is very knowledgeable about local history, both political and natural. He also took me to the Masaya markets and Volcano - his personal passion for geology and ecology made the experience more connected for me. Casa Cubana is about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Granada - a walk I made at night as well without issue. I stayed in the Saffron room, which is upstairs that overlooks the inner courtyard and pool. It was great to open the doors in the afternoon for a nap. If you're looking for a massage, there is a lady (I forget her name) who comes to your room with magic hands - loved that I could have nap after without travelling to far. Thank you Esther, Hazel and Andy!
