These are beautiful gorges with basalt formations and a stream flowing. This is nice to spend a couple of hours but I believe there exist more spectacular views around Europe. We paid for the natural park and lift as we had 3 hours to kill before the next bus back to Giardini. At first I was pleased that the rice...

The place is very nice and relaxing. There are steep ramps and stairs to go down the valley by the water. This time we were unlucky because the water level was a bit high and therefore it was not safe to go by the water. The entrance ticket was decided by the guardian/door-keeper there and then. He negotiated/discounted an entrance...

What a beautiful place to sea nature at its best! Although the water was cold, it didn't seem to matter as you marvel at the splendid surrounds. Good to spend a day there. There are food places onsite to buy food & drinks or bring your own picnic. For families with older kids, teenagers, there are many activities to do,...

This hotal is a beautiful place, but it is a bit more pricey than what earlier reviewers seem to indicate. I paid 150 Euro per night (in August 2013). Having said that, I think it is absolutely worth it! The main building of the hotel is located in an old "baglio", i.e. an old Sicilian farmhouse. This building is really...

1) The hosts were lovely, even if one of the two doesn't really speak any English and will keep telling you "right" when she means "left" and vice versa. The host with good English gave us the most amazingly inaccurate directions to Taormina, we are not sure if she's ever really been. 2) Dinner was delicious, amazing cakes offered at...

I stayed at Il Borgo - part of the Gole Alcantara resort with my fiancee for 5 days. We chose to stay here to save some money as it is peak season in Taormina during August and the hotel prices are very expensive. Staying at Il Borgo was great value for money - I think we paid less than £40...

There are a couple of buildings spread over the vicinity that belong to the resort. We stayed in "Del Casa Rosa", the building where all guests have to check-in, have breakfast, and dine. The room was very affordable and clean. The bed had a nice, romantic touch. Bathroom was very basic and a bit of fungus on the rails of...

Stayed in Il Borgo here with my wife for 5 nights in June. There are more Agriturismos belonging to this group, so you're well off checking or asking for a particular one in advance. See their site (not too user friendly) http://www.terralcantara.it/terralcantara/home/section.asp?iChannel=1 for details. We fully enjoyed our stay in a suite (room 15) in the main building (see photos)....

We left Tropea and rode the ferry across Straits of Messina to Sicily and drove here in our rental car. From previous reviewers we made sure we got to the park information place during business hours. They gave us a map to the manor house Il Borgo which was built in the middle ages with modern conveniences. Beautiful setting on...
