Close to Terni, but in a different world. Ideal starting point for trips to Cascata delle Marmore, Lago di Piediluco, Spoleto, Assisi and some other nice spots. Expect a quite a historic place in the mountains with outstanding hospitality, a restaurant with good food at reasonable prices with a lovely view from the terasse.

We stayed one night at the hotel on our travels through Italy. I wish we had stayed a few nights to really enjoy the ambience of this beautiful area. The hotel is a restored historic building and includes an elevator! The rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly. There is free street parking nearby, however it's a short...

Unexpected treasure on our agriturismo trip thru Italy. It sits in the middle of the fortified hilltop of Montefranco. It is a tight knit community that has incredible pride in their community that shows because the town is spotless. Since it is high on a hilltop, the views are fantastic. Plan on staying a few days, since there are so...

If you want to find peace and quiet go here. Perfect location with the most wonderfull views you can imagine. We had lunch in the restaurant Il Tralcio e l'Uva and it was very good. Some of the best pasta we had in central Italy. Extremely friendly service.

On the evening of 15 May, when people of Montefranco celebrate their saint patron’s day (mind it Californians, he is St. Bernardino) and re-enact traditional ways of life clad in mediaeval costumes, it may seem that the whole tiny town is just a stage decoration built for the wonderful spectacle – a stage designer’s idea how to convey the essence...

It was May 30 2013. We had no reservations and no phone. We followed some signs up the mountain and stumbled upon Rocca Ranne. Absolutely beautiful surroundings and view. The owner had to open up the hotel for us, I guess we were a little pre-season. We had a room at the top of what seemed like endless stairs. The...
