I stayed in Residence Inn by Marriott, 227 West Brambleton Ave, Norfolk, VA 23510 from July 2 to 6. I am a life time gold elite member and stayed in several Residence Inns over last 30 years. This was my worst experience at a Residence Inn. This place did not represent quality of any Marriott. There was only one person -Mr. Devon Jackson, who tried to help us but rest of the staff was not truthful and not doing their basic job. Just few examples of poor service and quality: 1. Dirty dishes, pots and pans: When I moved in the room, I found that dish-washer was filled with dirty dishes. Pans in the cabinet had left over food all over. I will try to upload pictures. 2. Missing pots and pans: I had been in several Residence Inn, therefore I know what to expect. I told staff about missing items so they would not suspect me. 3. Dish washer tray was broken (missing wheel). It was difficult to move it. 4. Bathroom sink was clogged. When I asked front desk (Ms. Liba) to send somebody to clear it, she said nobody is available till noon next day. And she suggested that I should go to public rest room to brush my teeth. 5. Bathroom exhaust fan did not work at all. 6. Only one empty roll of tissue paper in the bathroom. . 7. Only one towel in the bathroom. When asked for more, front desk told me that it will be provided next day as there is not any clean towel. 8. No bedding or pillow for sofa bed. 9. Broken microwave. 10. Dirt in the room that was not cleaned over weeks. I will try to upload pictures. 11. There was no iron in the room. When asked for iron, I was told that they will try to find one. They provided iron after 3 calls over 2 hours. 12. No Breakfast: This was the worst arrangement. Catering staff in the dinning area was the worst. Hotel was fully booked over 4th of July but catering staff will put very few items just enough for 4 or 5 people at a time. Staff stood in the corner and watching that all hotel guests were frustrated with this situation. When I demanded, catering staff stated that they ran out of items. On my third day I went down for breakfast at 7:30 am but still there was not much and I ended up demanding to get one banana. I gave a long list in writing to Ms. Liba and requested her to get the room cleaned and communicate everything to the general manger Dawn Anderson, but she did nothing. When I came back in the night, my room still had dirty dished from the previous guest and clogged sink. Whole staff and management need a very thorough training but I doubt if many of them can be trained.…
Stayed at this hotel recently with teenagers. We had a 1-bedroom suite which was very accommodating. Parking deck was directly across from the hotel. Restaurants and the Nauticus attractions is in walking distance of the hotel. The hotel is not too far from the Spirit of Norfolk
Husband overheard drug deals going on in the room across from us. Very loud on top of that. Tv didn’t work and rooms not clean. No linens for fold out couch and had to call twice to get them. Ended up checking out early. Not a clean, safe environment for kids.
My family and I have just relocated back to Virginia from Corpus Christi TX. From the moment of check in we were treated like family. Hotel is immaculate. Dawn, Tiffany and the entire staff were amazing. Our room was a two bedroom giving us plenty of space while we were waiting to close on our house. Such a convenient location to restaurants. My family and I were able to walk to a some great spots a couple of evenings. Our son worked out in the gym and swam every evening. I was even able to throw in a load of laundry in their laundry room. We also had a little chihuahua in tow and they offered the perfect pet relief area out back. All and all we enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend for any of your travel needs.
Tina said it best! I’ve been here for 5 months. Ever had a hotel staff sing you Happy Birthday or make you homemade ziti? That’s the family experience and treatment you will receive if you stay here at the Residence Inn. The entire staff is TOP OF THE LINE and they treat you as family. It’s in a perfect location in walking distance to several wonderful restaurants and attractions. Being away from home as much as I am, it’s really comforting to be greeted every day by your first name. Or to be asked about your family. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
