This is a place that tries to be many things but fails dismally at most of them. The front gate which is so narrow that 'paint will be scrapped'. Parking inside is a nightmare. Walking up multiple flights of narrow staircases, with no elevators and no porters. Rooms done out in 1960's bad taste art deco. Ancient plumbing. Communal breakfast...

We reserved two rooms---one for my husband and me and one for our two teenage daughters. Although the rooms were the same price our room was nice and our daughters was a dismal, stuffy attic room with no windows. The swimming pool is pretty but seemed dirty. The grounds are very pretty and the place is interesting and much more...

A fabulous romantic stay at Vila Aurora is one little pearl which makes Portugal shine. The decore and interiors of the old vila take you back a centurie and accually slow down your time.

At the time, we were well treated by the "guardian of the castle", Mrs Benilde. She was nice, although a bit strange... We had a nice room, with...
