I watched this hotel be upgraded whilst staying in their sister hotel over the road. It was looking good so decided to make a booking. Great choice. Top quality decor, fantastic decor in rooms. Everything really clean. The food was the best I have experienced in a four star hotel The staff were really friendly, always smiling and very helpful The pool area is spacious and no fighting for sun beds! Lovely poolside bar. Really good sea views from pool and restaurant. Near local beach and town,so ra sport is not essential as lots to do Will rebook for 2018 Only small point was we were only English in hotel,so communication with staff sometimes confusing, but no problem for ourselves. Most of the waiters could understand us and verse visa.
We were somewhat apprehensive when we booked this following an overbooking situation as a lot of the reviews laboured on the fact that Cala Ratjada was very german. Yes there are a lot of german tourists there but it made no difference to us. The Mar Azul is adult only and in an excellent location only 5 minutes from Cala Agulla beach, the best beach in Cala Ratjada. A ten minute walk takes you down to the port and there any lots of bars and restaurants close by. We had a sea view room with air conditioning and we have no complaints about the room at all, it could only have been better if we had been on a higher floor. The staff were exceptional, all spoke english or at least tried and were very friendly towards us - I think we were the only english people staying most were german and a few spanish. We would definitely go back.…
We were part of the a large sports group of 20, who had booked the hotel some six months earlier. We picked the hotel for its location and good value. The Pros The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the water and 10 minutes to a beautiful sandy beach The dining room overlooks the water and you can even dine outside The rooms were average, generally clean and quiet (except for the load blower condensers from both sides of the hotel that everyone heard) A short 15 minute walk you can reach the bay, which has many restaurants and bars. The Cons Even after paying for the room upfront, confirmation from Expedia, we were informed that 6 people would not be able to stay in the hotel for the first night, due to a "technical problem" While we can't prove it, we think they were overbooked and just bumped us. In compensation, they booked us at the hotel across the street, which was actually a notch higher in quality. In addition, they offered those who had to move a free drink at dinner. So, all in all, it worked out ok. The food is very average...all cooked at 6:00 pm and look pretty tired when you eat at 20:00. Our group decided to eat dinner out 2 nights even though we had booked and paid for half pension. The staff speaks very limited English, but excellent German, which was not a problem for us. In summary, a fine choice for a group looking for good value, but not a place I would take my wife to on vacation.…
Reading reviews that vary from terrible to very good relies on finding a middle ground. This becomes more difficult when they appear in different languages. So to simplify, this hotel is dominated by Germans with a spattering of Brits, French and Scandinavians. So what. We stayed for two nights and arrived when their was an aircon crisis during a real hottie even for Spain. The excellent staff sorted it in various languages, the pool was super and no single nationality appeared to hog the sunbeds. Breakfast was fine and buffet evening meal vety good all for 200 euros all in so a big yes to this hotel for value and comfort. By the way te hotel is really in Cala Agulla whichis much nicer than Ratjada.
The food is really great, various and delicious. Overall cleanliness is OK. We have two complains: uncomfortable beds and poor knowledge of English from hotel staff. Location of the hotel is great, just a step from the beach.
