Just came back from a brilliant 7 nights at the Sol. Would 100% stay here again, the pool is great, nice and big with a good deep end to. Lots of sunbeds too never had any trouble getting a sunbed. Was very clean too and friendly life guards, a nice bar too with great staff on.
The location is perfect, with supermarkets literally on the doorstep, a 5 minute walk down to the beach and a 5 minute walk into the centre.
The rooms were perfect for a couple, very spacious apartment on the top floor, nice fridge , wardrobe area, bathroom was decent enough shower was always hot and good pressure. We had a lovely view of the pool too. They were always cleaned to a high standard when we put out the time to be cleaned sign on our door. The air con was good too no issues with that and a decent sized TV with ITV and BBC too.
We had breakfast included in our deal, which we had everyday, it was nice but the variety was minimal. The cooked breakfast stuff wasnt great so we stuck to pastries , bread, cold meats , fruit and yoghurt which were decent. They had s nice selection of drinks and ice creams on the bar, with a nice daquiri too. Fairly priced.
The only problems we found with our stay were just how loud the doors were next to us, the first two nights we thought someone was breaking in to our room with how loud it was. In the end we got used to it when the neighbours would come back about 11:30pm but still wasn't nice. Also would have just liked the external gates to be shut over night as anyone could have wandered into the complex. Other than that we had an exceptional stay!
Would like to say a special thanks to i think it was Sergio? On arrival we had trouble with our booking for some reason through on the beach, but he was so helpful and made us feel relaxed and assured us it would be OK. He was a top bloke. And to the lady who found my trunks that fell off the balcony one night!

Stayed here for one week with family and friends. The hotel is in a great location if want everything nearby, and without the noise, (although could be different in peak season) and within 5 -15mins walk of some really lovely small beaches and bays, and marina. We booked studio appartments and found these to be very clean with further cleaning service during the week. The studios had basic self catering facilities which was fine as mainly ate out in the many good restaurants nearby. One of the rooms did had some problems, but staff quickly sorted this. One thing that couldnt see mentioned on the website (hotel or tour company) is to get to some rooms, there are steps after the lift with no hand rails, and some rooms have steep steps up to them (but these studios did have more space). This made it difficult for one of our party, but was able to move rooms. Overall we thought the hotel was good value and had a great week.

My wife & I spent a week at the Sol Cala D’Or apartments from 21st to the 28th September. We arrived mid afternoon and were greeted at reception by an extremely helpful lady (sorry I have forgotten her name) who helped us with a quick & efficient check in.
I have mobility issues having not long since had a knee replacement operation. I had emailed the hotel in advance requesting a ground floor room near the pool. I was advised that they had allocated us a room as per our request. The room was facing the pool on the ground floor just as I had requested.
We had no issues whatsoever with the room. It was spotlessly clean and had everything that you would need for a self-catering apartment. The cleaners came in every other day, cleaned the rooms, changed the towels & bedding. The pool area and surrounding gardens were also kept very clean & tidy.
We had no bother finding sunbeds or parasols at whatever time of the day we visited the pool area. Unfortunately, we did not eat or drink from the restaurant but were told by other guests that the food was lovely & quite reasonably priced. Lots of guests were buying drinks from the bar so I assume this was also reasonably priced.
It was our wedding anniversary while we were there. We had a lovely surprise when we returned to our room after a day out to find champagne, chocolates, cakes and a greeting card from the hotel management. The hotel certainly knows how to go that extra mile to please their guests.
Location wise, we couldn’t have chosen a better hotel, literally less than a 5-minute walk to the beach or to all the lovely restaurants & bars. There is a supermarket right next door to the hotel entrance that had all the essentials you would need for a self-catering holiday. We were so impressed by everything about the hotel that we intend to return next year.

We booked these apartments knowing they were part of the Melia brand and expecting at the very least a modern and clean place to relax as a family.
The hotel write-up completely mis-sells this property - the “wonderful” pool surroundings are dirty and poorly maintained, the “spectacular” solarium is a square area of artificial grass and a hot tub (broken during our stay), the “modernised” apartments are old with the addition of some modern furniture (also tired and dirty). The whole place is run like we’re in the 1980s. Big keys and fobs for the doors, yellowed and unhygienic shower curtain.
The cleaning was poor, our sheets were changed once in 7 nights and the floors were so badly swept and mopped that I did them myself one evening.
All of this I could put up with, after all you only sleep in the apartment, but what did it in the end was the selfish behaviour of guests around the pool when it came to sunbeds and parasols.
There are 20 parasols to about 200 beds, including the lifeguard’s parasol. During the first part of our stay, it was impossible to get a bed after 10am as all were reserved with towels despite people not returning to them until late afternoon. Parasols were long gone. But later in the week, towels were being placed on beds after midnight the evening before and so all beds with parasols were gone before people had even risen. The hotel staff were sympathetic but didn’t appear to have any policy in place or the inclination to take action. On our family’s last day I had no choice but to join the sunbed war and get up at 7am to grab beds and parasols so that the kids could enjoy a pool day and have some shade. Something we’d not managed on any other day.
Beds were really difficult to get at the beaches too, if you’re not there by 9am, you’re too late. We bought our own parasol for the beach but there is so little space on the beaches it was hard to even find a patch to use it.
We didn’t pay a lot to stay for 8 nights (1200€) but did expect at least a three star apartment complex. This is two at best. We left a night early and stayed in Palma so that we could relax before flying home. The receptionist said we were not the first family that day to leave and said she understood we needed to relax.
All of the above said, the staff were all friendly and helpful, and appeared to be working hard / under resourced. We had to call on the night manager to come and remove a cockroach from our windowsil above my son’s bed and although he wasn’t meant to leave the desk, he came and helped. The hotel and its employees must have had a very tough few years but Sol Melia really needs to invest in this place and get the sunbed situation under control. We take all feedback being it positive or negative to heart as our main aim is to provide our clients with a pleasant and enjoyable stay. Our cleaning staff is usually very thorough, and they follow strict cleaning procedures. The rooms are always cleaned every two days as long as the guest does not leave a do not disturb notice, when of course we respect their rest. You can be sure that we will follow-up appropriately so this never happens again. We regret to hear you felt we had no control over the reservation of sunbeds by guests. Our hotel has very clear rules, stating that it is not permitted to reserve a sunbed for longer than 2 hours. We apologise that some of our guests did not follow this rule, however we beg you comprehend while we try our utmost to communicate and enforce this rule, we also, at the same time try our best to respect our guests’ relaxation time by the pool. Had a lovely stay here . Just returned from 6 nights at the sol Cala d’or apartments. Apartment was clean and had everything you would expect from a self catering room . 4 off us shared an apartment 2 adults and 2 teenagers . The apartment has a bedroom with 2 beds and the living area 2 beds . Free air conditioning in the bedroom and living area and free WiFi at the apartments. Staff were all lovely and couldn’t be more helpful . There were measures in place for covid even the sun beds were being sprayed with cleaning solution after use .
Great location. Close to all the bars and restaurants . Beach is 2 min walk . The town itself was starting to get busier as we left .
Covid testing - we booked our tests for flying home at the test to fly centre . Please make sure your test isn’t done too early . It needs to be within 72 hours off ur arrival to the uk . Ideally get it the day before you fly home . The process was straight forward your results are emailed to you and you need to show this along with a passenger locator form at check in at the airport snd also on arrival to uk.
Would recommend staying here had a fantastic holiday . Will definitely return . This was our first time in cala d’or and we loved it .

Visited in early october, had a family room which was extremely dated. My friend had the double bed on the second floor and I had the sofa. No linen provided for the sofa at all? Had to help myself when I saw the cleaners coming. Very uncomfortable to sleep on and just an itchy blanket that had seen much better days. I am only in my 30s but the 'singing' from the bar behind was really annoying and went on probably until 1am. The balcony was very nice and got the most beautiful sunshine in the afternoon. Food very basic and repetitive, we were half board but I think I only went to dinner twice and then went out. The absolute godsend for us was the rooftop where you could lay down and catch some sun. Unfortunately no toilets or anything up there so a trek to your room everytime you need the loo. This lovely area of the hotel was somewhat spoilt by people bringing their babies up there and putting them in the jacuzzi even though it said it was for adults only. People drinking bacardi breezers and failing to use the bins! It was handy to have the little kitchen area to do snacks or pizza, but only 1 oven tray provided? The location is actually what makes this hotel as it is very close to the beach and to the busy area and restaurants only a short walk away. Unfortunately disappointed with this melia hotel as I have stayed with them before. Also, booked a trip with the jet2 rep and she seemed very bored and disinterested. If you just want a base to sleep at this would be great but it is generally overrated in my opinion.

Wrote to Cala d,or apartments prior to going to ask a couple of questions and to request ground floor room , received quick answer and when arriving was requested room requested . We were in room 116 which had 5 steps up to the room which was at the side of the pool , so very happy with location of room . Room had everything you would need on a self catering holiday including a oven which is something you don’t always get . Separate bedroom with air con and open wardrobe (which I think looks untidy ) bathroom with shower , kitchen and lounge area with air con , the fridge was going a bit rusty at the bottom and freezer department wasn’t very good bit kept milk and beers cold . It was clean and tidy , the cleaners came every other day with clean towels and bedding was changed twice on out 11 night holiday . Facilities round pool was reasonable although some sun loungers were broke but was plenty to go round while we were there . Prices at bar ,cafe were reasonable , there was a happy hour only on a Saturday which wasn’t advertised but thought this could have been every day . The cost for evening meal was 12 euros which gave you 3 choices for starter main and pudding which were served to the table not buffet style , but we didn’t use this facility as the menus were not something we liked . There are plenty of eating places around . The apartments are in a very good location with everything close . The weather was great except a couple of thunderstorms on a couple of afternoons.There is a big difference in prices in supermarkets so look around . On the whole we would stay here again but we tent to go to different places .

Considering this is a 2/3* hotel, you definitely get your money's worth.
We had an apartment on the first floor, easily accessible and close to the pool/reception. Because it's made for self catering they gave you all the utensils you needed - enough for a restaurant chef, along with cleaning equipment. A/C was good. Beds were fine - twin beds and basically blackout curtains (we didn't even realise it was morning when we woke up!). Plenty of space for everything in there, very clean. Had a nice shower and bathroom. Everything we needed.
I have two complaints: the blue fire alarm that flashed every 20 seconds in the bedroom, and the fact we could hear everyone to and from the corridors.
The pool was lovely, clean and spacious. You have to put your towels down at a good time in the morning although I must say half the people that you see that have towels down will barely be there for the day, and that's quite annoying.
The solarium was a treat as I don't think many people had clocked it. Lovely views and a nice jacuzzi.
There is a SPAR literally attached to the hotel, and there are plenty more around which have decent prices for the basic things.
I can't say much about the restaurant because Cala d'Or is a place where you eat and go out. The hotel is in really good proximity to the main areas (10-15 mins) and about a 20 minute walk to the marina and there's about 4 beaches in range too.
Would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here in June for 5 nights in a one bedroom ground floor apartment. The apartment was very nice and cleaned every couple of days. It wasn’t huge but big enough and well equipped. breakfast was ok but didn’t start until 8.30 which for us wasn’t good as we are early risers. Fortunately we were able to make a cuppa!!! There was a good selection and whilst the hot buffet was only warm it was acceptable. The pool area was good though very short of umbrellas and people were putting towels down at 8am despite being asked not to. I think management should have removed them all. You could not hire towels so we ended up having to buy cheap ones from the local shops. It is within fairly easy walking distance of the town centre. The staff were great. Always happy to help and very friendly.
