The Berghotel Trübsee (Alpine Lodge Trübsee) is situated at 1800 m above sea level and is surrounded by a magnificent mountain landscape. The hotel is reachable by cable car within 20 minutes from Engelberg. In winter you will be one of the first skiers on the slopes (ski in ski out hotel) and in summer it is a perfect starting point for anyone wishing to experience the mountains of Central Switzerland.

Detailed Reviews
We were extremely comfortable and had a few days of absolute downtime here.
Location is perfect if you’re planning to ski/hike. You need to be up the mountain before the lift closes at 5pm - our plane landed in Zurich at noon and, travelling by train, this was very comfortably achievable.
Everything is clean and welcoming. Our balcony, facing the Trübsee, was sunny in the afternoons, beds were comfortable (though three people to a room felt a little cramped).
We loved being able to get up, have a wonderful breakfast, then be straight out and able to ski. At the end of the day, coming home to a sauna was also great.
There is an Intersport in the building for ski/boot hire if needed, though this is only open 10.00-16.00. In the ski room there are snow shoes you can borrow if you fancy snow shoeing rather than skiing. Plenty of of great routes direct from the hotel.
Be aware that things do close down in the evening- there is not a wild nightlife up here. This was perfect for us, but won’t be for everyone.

Room Tip: Make sure you’re able to reach Engelberg in time for the last cable car at 17:00.

We had a two night stay in this hotel. The aim was to enjoy nature and quietness so we were actually very happy that the cable car stops operating at 17.00 because we got the place all to ourselves at night. But yes, the point of this hotel is to enjoy nature: hikes around the lake or around the mountains were very pleasant and beautiful. The weather was bad when we were there but it was still a good experience of tranquility.
Now, for the price, the things we got were quite basic, in a typical mountain hotels style in Switzerland. The room is functional but basic (which is OK), the sauna was old and small (could be improved), but worst of all, the dinner. There was only one take-it-or-leave it menu for half-board. We did ask for an à la carte menu, thinking that we could order from the à la carte and pay the difference. But it wasn't available. At night, there was only one set menu.
Back to the set menu, I think substitution is possible but we didn't try. We had beef tartar (which was utterly delicious) but I did wonder, how do they expect everyone to eat raw beef, especially children? And are the substitutes equally decent? If yes, why not make it an alternative? Good thing is, if the meal wasn't enough, we could apparently ask for second helpings.
Overall, once one knows the pitfalls of such place, it is a good stay. We would love to come back, especially when dinner is improved.

This is a ski sport camp rather than a hotel. After 5 pm you're locked in. (No cable car after 5pm) This is a half board premise, breakfast is good but dinner is a problem. And you have no options. No entertainment for children and adults. The food and beverage is extremely expensive. Even tap water is paid. The bunk bed room is uncomfortable. The room amenities are poor. There is no ski rent facilities in the premise so, you should go down to Engelberg.

Dear Eren U, thank you for having taken the time to provide your valued Feedback and beeing guest in Alpine Lodge Trübsee. We are very sorry to hear that you could not enjoy your stay with us to the fullest. Unfortunately we need to notice, that we were not able to convince you with the amazing nature and mountain skyline around the hotel and the 3 different main courses for dinner. However, we very much regret that we were not able to meet your expectations this time. We would be delighted to welcome you back to Engelberg in the near future. Best regards from Mount Titlis Christian Gerber Manager of Operations Alpine Lodge Trübsee

Somehow we came back everyday for our bite of lunch! Friendly atmosphere, nice food and a good selection. Conveniently located in center of ski resort easy accesible for family members who are not skiing but still like to join for lunch. Nice lounge beds in the sun for a but of afternoon snooze. Clean toilets!

We had a great time, as always, at Berghotel Truebsee. We were 9 adults and 2 children (ages 9 and 14 moths) and the staff took care of all our needs. It was never any problems for the staff to heat baby food or fix a small plate of food for the oldest child to eat before the rest of us had dinner. Our room was newly renovated and had the best view.
Our flight back to Sweden left early so we had to catch an early train from Engelberg back to Zurich. Thanks to the helpfull staff we could take one of the cabel cars going down at 7 o´clock in the morning (the cabel car dosen't start until 8 o´clock). And they made sandwiches for us to take with us since we left before breakfast. Over all it's a great hotel that I can't wait to come back to.

Was here for the new year party with partner and friends. Food and service was excellent. Enjoyed the festivities and especially the igloo lodge - a bar made from snow and ice. We also did some snow tubing under the clear starry sky.

+1
Well, first of, my tour manager told me that we were the only ones in this hotel and there's only a few people running the show tonight. Shout out to Dominic and Jacqueline for taking care of our dinner and Dominic for the karaoke and drinks.
The room is extremely cosy and comfy. They have a sofa and two soft beds. Although they don't have morning calls, they have an alarm clock that can be used. The shower was great and I finally had a hot shower in a long time. There was also a huge study table and a lot of plugs all around so that's great.
Breakfast is amazing, and they have the standard breakfast - scrambled eggs and bacon but they also provide eggs where you can cook them soft or hard boiled. They have one coffee machine, but there's a lady at the counter who's happy to help with whatever you need.
If I'm ever going up to Mount Titlis, I would definitely stay here again. And of course I recommend it to everyone else. It is a great location, and it is by lake Trübsee!

I only used the restaurant and its terrace of this hotel. More than perfect location. A dream like ambience and surprisingly affordable food prices. The terrace of the restaurant offers a stunning view of the mountains.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Berghotel Truebsee and loved it. If you are looking for a Mid-Mountain ski-in ski-out hotel on Titlis, this is the place to stay without a doubt. Although it does not come with the amenities of a 5 star resort, I still had to give it 5 stars nevertheless because of its charm, location, reasonable rates, service, breakfast/dinner option and fact that it exceeded all expectations. People have complained about the room size being small and for that reason, we opted to splurge and spend Euro 40 a night more for a junior suite. Well worth the splurge. A duplex, it was plenty large enough and the view of Titlis mountain was breathtaking. Can't wait to return.
