Overall, the stay was ok but could of been improved.
There is loads of car parking space, & bicycle storage; & everywhere appears to be wheelchair accessible.
There is no real menu.
The quality of the food is horrible. It looks like canned food. The taste is salty.
If you insister on dating there, be the the minuts the restaurant opens, or you Will be met by empty bowls and cold french fries.
They were oftes runs out spoons, knives etc.
And if you ask for anything the cook has always just left.
Be Wiese find yourselves another place to get some decent food.
My only request would be to have bathrobes in The Suites.
Hard to read a book or paper, not enough light! The television screen was very small.
There is a restaurant called "Smakelijk" on the premises.
We arrived during the afternoon, a little earlier than the stated check-in time, but this was no problem.
The very friendly lady at the front deask checked with housekeeping to see if our room was ready and handed us our key.
We had a room on the ground floor again, this time facing away from the central grassy area but looking towards the car park.
Rooms are nice, tidy and clean with a (very) small flat screen mounted on the wall.
Not a very spacious room but price/quality was very good.
Beds are two singles pushed together with two single duvets and are extremely comfortable.
The bathroom is a bit dated and small but again, clean with Rituals toiletries this time.
Plenty of hot water and good water pressure.
Breakfast is taken on the first floor of the main building and very good.
Everything was replenished straight away, no empties to be seen anywhere.
We had our breakfast on a Sunday morning which is probably busier than any other time of the week and we felt that the staff couldn't fully cope with the tidying of tables.
People sat down at tables with the leftovers of the previous occupants. There were only two very young members of staff trying to clear the tables and one of those also had to make sure that everything at the buffet counter was stocked up.
We did enjoy our second visit and it's location is only a short stroll into the little town of Putten.
When we got there, the door to the main reception would not open (as before), so we rang the bell. Eventually a guy arrived to let us in and asked where our card was....they had not given us one....
The bar was nice and we had a few drinks before going to bed. Despite the fact we said there were two of us, the third bed had not been removed so it was rather cramped. We had neither water nor water glasses in the room and only one light worked in the bathroom. Lack of attention to detail.
On to breakfast - quite a nice selection with the exception of the cooked eggs and bacon. The scrambled eggs were quite simply a disaster - hard, unattractive and no wonder that no-one had eaten any.....the bacon was fatty and greasy.
We mentioned all the above to the receptionist on check-out - and received apologies. This is not an acceptable standard and we would not stay again.
The hotel is in the middle of the town and not a particularly peaceful setting - the Postillion at Amersfort wins hands over....
The Putten Parkhotel is set at the top of a lovely drive in the middle of a lovely town!
I believe that Putten itself is in the religious belt of Holland and consequently, the town is very quiet, very well kept and very nice!
We were all booked into Suites in the main building which looked fairly new! There was further accomodation to the rear of the hotel which looked a little ' Pontins',but which too was in a lovely setting!
We arrived at Midday and as check in was not until 2pm,the lovely Lady on reception ' moved mountains' to get our rooms ready while we sat outside sampling the local beverage(s) and within 15 minutes our suites were ready! Excellent service!
The rooms themselves were very nice, all named after flowers and trees and all done in different colour schemes!
The rooms were of a good size, with 2 chairs ,a table and a desk with chair on which to work! Free WiFi of course!
The wardrobes were big and spacious although as we were only staying overnight, this did not have any relevance to us!
The bathrooms were big, with large bath with a shower over it,separate walk in shower and Villeray and Boch fittings throughout! The bathroom also had a heated floor!
Very nice accomodation!
We went downstairs and the very accommodating Chef ( a young man who,s name I unfortunately can,t remember) made s a splendid 'buffet style ' lunch with soups, salads, cold meats, warm bread ( yum) and fruits,Excellent!
We took Dinner in the Hotel restaurant !
This too was excellent with a small, but excellent Menu and an excellent wine list!
The food and service were excellent,my compliments again to the Chef and staff!
My only complaint is that there was no Night Porter and having locked myself out of the room,I had to wait 15/20 minutes for someone to come and let me in to my room, but my own fault for locking myself out really and it was 0100 as we returned from work at that time!
Everything was closed on our return, but hey, this a country hotel and much ,much nice than returning to Amsterdam!
The Breakfast was Continental style with just scrambled eggs and bacon to satisfy those in need of a 'Full English',but once again very nice!
Despite the 1100 check out,we were allowed to keep our rooms until we left at 1330 a very nice touch and once again,so different to the Amsterdam hotels!
The Reception staff were very efficient,as we're all of the staff ( my towels were changed and bed made up and room tidied by them while we were at breakfast, incidentally I had left my wallet, passport,I pad and other valuables on my bed ready for departure and these were untouched! Again excellent !
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxed stay with excellent, friendly service,in beautiful surroundings!
Highly recommended!
