We were traveling to Amsterdam, but wanted to find a place in between there and Rotterdam to make most of our trip. The room was very nice and the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. caution: the hot water in the showers is scolding to a point of burns the first time we used it. The hotel is by a...

This is the third year we have stayed at Van der Valk Hotel Avifauna while visiting the Keukenhof gardens. We always take different friends, and make sure that we have time to go through the Bird Park adjoining the hotel. As always, the room was quiet, well-appointed, and welcoming. Everyone in our group of five slept soundly, and enjoyed the...

We stay there quite a few times per year because it's just handy. Close to my boyfriends work, restaurant on the property, it served us for a short overnighter at least 4-5 times. To be honest, it has seen better days and when you compare it to other Van der Valk hotels which we are frequently using, it's pretty much...

I stay here when I am in town on business. This last trip, I had a very nice room. It was spacious, very clean and the bed was very comfortable! The bathroom had a bathtub as well as a separate shower and included a hair dryer. My room overlooked the park. Be prepared for birds to wake you up early!...

When visiting my family in NL, we always stay in this hotel. Its a bit getting used to when living in SEA for so many years, but ok. If you go there in the summer, you need to ask for fans in the room as this hotel does not have air conditioning. It gets very hot if the sun is...

Stayed for a night with the family in a family-suite. Nice and spacious 2 floor room which was very clean. Seems to have been renovated a few years ago. Hallways are a bit dated as is the building itself, but then again, you don't sleep there ;) No gym etc and breakfast is in the restaurantbuilding next to the hotel....

We stayed here, as a family, twice in December. For the first stay, we stayed in one of the 'family suites'. Check-in is fast, efficient, if a little bureaucratic (one ID needed per room, due to 'hotel rules') and lacking in warmth and friendliness. The staff were very good in helping us retrieve reading glasses we left in the room...

For us it was a short weekend-stay not far from home, but we enjoyed every minute of it. Of course we had been in the Bird Park before , but in winter it is not the same as in summer, it its quiet and you can hear more birds than in summer. The hotel itself is separated from the Reception...

If you are staying in Alphen aan den Rijn, you have very few options for places to stay. The Avifauna hotel is about 5-10 minutes from the bus stop, which is a convenient way to get to/from Schiphol airport or the city center. The staff is friendly, the rooms are perfectly adequate, and your stay includes admission to the bird...
