I arrived early to check in to my room but wasn't available until 4pm (which was the checking time). I asked if I could leave my belongings and my bike somewhere so i wouldn't have to carry them around with me whist i wait. which they gladly said yes, but were left in another room which wasn't secure enough in...

Thank you for reviewing your stay with us at Calverts. It does state clearly on your booking summary that you would've received by e-mail when you made the reservation that rooms aren't guaranteed to be ready until 4:00pm on the day of your arrival. Many thanks for commenting positively on the bed and the bathroom. I have taken note about...

I have had a two week holiday on The Isle of Wight staying at historic Calvert's Hotel Quay Street in Newport. I have found the hotel very relaxing after a full day walking. I stayed on my own and found both the room and ensuite large rooms. A flat screen TV with the freeview channels. Tea and coffee facilities. I...

Room is poorly insulated, no double glazing and the heating was off. Too cold to sleep. No night receptionist to sort out the problem. Otherwise it was acceptably clean and staff were polite and pleasant. But if you can't provide a warm bed, what good are you for?

Calverts Hotel is an old building with mostly brick walls. Where walls and ceiling can be, they are insulated. We would've informed you by telephone before you arrived that we had an issue with our boiler and a new one was to be fitted shortly after. Despite this thank you for commenting positively on the cleanliness and polite staff. We...

We stayed just two nights. The boiler had just broken down. No heating and no hot water for two nights in February in a less than clean hotel . The staff were really nice and I felt sorry they had to deal with all the complaints. We were offered a refund or two more nights if we returned. It did...

Calverts Hotel in Newport is a budget hotel and does not have a star rating. We would've informed you by telephone before you arrived that our boiler had broken and a new one was to be installed shortly after giving you the chance to either cancel or transfer to one of our sister hotels. Our housekeeping staff pay close attention...

So, I'm not particularly fussy when it comes to hotels, if I'm there for one night all I want is a bed and a shower. If you're booking this hotel for a glamorous holiday then don't. My partner and I came for a one night stay to visit the electric woods festival at robin hill. We decided to stay here...

3 Star? Try 1, or 2 at a push. I'm not sure I want to touch anything. This place seems quite unclean. The windows are cracked and the outside view is of a moss covered roof top and a brick wall. There are no modern bathroom facilities available, just a bath, sink, toilet with the thinnest toilet paper you'll find...

Good hotel, location great in centre, shops, bus station, night life. Staff friendly and helpful. Had single room, nice size, tea coffee, en suite. The room could of been a little cleaner but good for the price. There was no breakfast in price I paid, would of been £8. Quite noisy location weekend nights.

The good: The staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be under the circumstances. The breakfast was very good and the dining room had obviously been decorated and re-carpeted quite recently. The beds were clean and comfortable, although the castors on them meant that they tended to drift when we turned over! The bad: There was no shower...

So I booked here before reading reviews. Once I started reading them I became worried as there were more negative than positive. I'm the sort of person who judges for themselves though so I thought il go and stay and if it's that bad il find somewhere else as I was booked in for 2 nights. So I arrived Friday...

I had to book in here when my partner landed himself in hospital. On arrival there was a young a man very polite and checked that my room was ready. I had booked a single room and I couldn't believe it when I walked in, the room was dark, there was old furniture antique I suppose. The wallpaper was peeling...
