Visited for a birthday meal. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. We had the pork belly. So tasty and tender. We had a starter which was quite large so struggled to finish main and couldn't contemplate dessert which I suppose saved our money (and waistlines). Will skip starter next time so we can sample puddings instead!

Without a doubt the most amazing food I have eaten in a restaurant from presentation to quality and flavour, would highly recommend to anyone. I had a gorgeous broccoli and Stilton soup,Sirloin steak with jack daniels and mushroom creamy sauce,Excellent The Service was quick, efficient and very courteous.

I stay hear a couple of times a month. It's a pub/ restaurant with rooms. Has a microbrewery and dining room. Great location on the Cannock chase and would be a great place for a weekend lunch beer and a walk. Food is good, stand outs are Arbroath smoky in cream Corn beef hash and a fried egg Seafood board... More

This is quite local to us so we have been a few times. We can highly recommend the Sunday lunch but they stop serving at 2pm so you need to book. Well cooked roast meats and lovely fresh veg. We also visited with a group of friends on a Saturday night and my partner and I had the best steak... More

Absolutely love it here, first class food and drink. Been here a few times and I'm always surprised how good they can cook and present food. The menu has a great variety of types of meals and that is the problem! Because you can never decide which one to choose as they all look and sound delicious. Definitely recommend a visit... More

Visited The Rag today for Sunday lunch. Recommend booking as it is very popular but we were lucky and took a 12pm table. The busiest times are between 12 and 2.30pm. Pretty dining room with ample space between tables, hubby and I chose Sweet Chilli Fishcake and Ravioli stuffed with Gruyere cheese. Followed by 2 x Roast Sirloin and Yorkshire... More

I have visited The Rag on two occasions, and on both visits we received a warm welcome and excellent food. The restaraunt was clean with plenty of room between the tables. Everyone enjoyed their meals although as a vegetarian I am disappointed by the limited choice of main cooked dishes, either a vegetable curry or Staffordshire Oatcakes, and on both... More

Exceptional food. Quality service from the staff. Fantastic choice. Placed next to radiator which for a menopausal woman not good, but waitress opened the window for me to make me more comfy (much thanks)

“Our room was above the kitchen (room 4 I think) and a 'quiet night in' would not be possible in this room as the washing up noise went on until after 10pm. I'm sure this wouldn't usually be a problem though as most people prefer to be out in the evening.”
