We stayed in the Piquillo annex. Lovely room with kitchen and spacious bathroom. Everything was very tasteful and carefully thought out. Loved the selection of robes too. Rachel the host was welcoming and very professional. Very close to the shops. Great stay all round.

We stayed as a couple in Piquillo. This is suitable for 2 people and is attached to the main house but with a separate entrance. Very well furnished with a basic kitchenette - but everything that you would need for a weekend away. The hosts were lovely and recommended various places to eat in Greytown. Poppy the dog was delightful...

We stayed at Shy Cottage and Piquillo while touring around the Wairarapa and I have to say that previous reviewers have hit the nail on the head when they mention how cosy, comfortable and peaceful it is to stay there. We also really appreciated how quiet it is there, with only the sound of the birds in the morning. The...

Shy cottage is delightfully quaint but with the modern touches to make it warm and comfortable (log fire and heater for the cooler months). A perfect location with a good selection of restaurants all within a few minutes walk. The garden setting is beautiful and sunny for sitting out on the verandah for breakfast. Rachel is a great host and...

Three nights in Piquillo cottage = peace, quiet, privacy and relaxation. Lovely setting in a pretty cottage garden, complete with herbs, vegetables, flowers, fruit trees and free-ranging chickens. Warm friendly welcome from host Rachel and her dog Poppy. Great location just a short stroll to Greytown's boutique shops, restaurants and supermarket. Very comfortable bed, very good shower, and a compact...

Cottages are back from road, so very serene and relaxing. Very comfortable bedding and full kitchen & bbq. The breakfast is worth it with organic food where possible and items straight from the garden. Hosts are very friendly and we felt we had known them for years after only one night's stay. A very short walk to all shops in...

Perfect private quiet cottage in the back garden, which is full of help yourself herbs and veges. Walk to the resturants and shops. Lovely friendly helpful hosts that also 'leave you to it'. Felt nicely spoilt staying in the tastefully decorated cottage. There is an outside spa bath if you wish. And highly recommend the breakfast that is on offer.

We spent two nights at the Piquillo self-contained unit as we participated int he NZ Home and Gardens Open Homes event in the Wairarapa. Checking in during the early afternoon, we found the unit very well appointed with a private garden for relaxation. Furnishing and fittings were of a high standard. Our accommodating hostess Rachel, provided appropriate goods for our...

This lovely cottage is a perfect getaway. The hospitality of both Nigel and Rachel was excellent. Although the weather was foul on the one day there was plenty to do in the cottage. We will most certainly visit again as well as recommend it to friends. The Nepresso machine was an extra, unexpected luxury.

“There are two cottages on the property. Our friends stayed one of the nights we were there in the other cottage Piquollo and their room was really lovely too, but had a heat pump instead, so wasn't quite as old style as Shy Cottage. If old style is what you are looking for with the beautiful warmth of a fire, then Shy Cottage is what you want.”
