Several friends and I recently spent a weekend on Tangier Island and stayed at this B&B. The facility is very clean and basic, more like an old fashioned rooming house than the image many may have of a quaint B&B. We stayed in the cottage across from the main house (the restaurant and more rooms are located there). There are...

The Chesapeake House B and B is very basic. Its clean but you do share a bath with other guests. The food was pretty good. Family style dining.

We went to Tangier Island for just a few hours and had heard how good the food was there. We chose to eat at the Chesapeake House for lunch. We were starving so ate lunch early and were the first customers that day. Food is served on large tables family style. The veggies included applesauce, cole slaw, pickled beats, and...

I visited here in June 2013 and had a wonderful time on Tangier Island. The Chesapeake House has the best location of all the places available being on the main street in the heart/center of this unique island village. The staff were down-home friendly with a ready smile. They loved to talk about their Island and guided us to lots...

I wish I had read the reviews about this place. There may be some confusion about the name of this B&B. Hilda Crockett's Chesapeake House and the Chesapeake Inn are the same operation, just 2 separate buildings.I invite you to read the reviews for both of them.I had a HUGH issue with having to share a bathroom with everyone on the...

We stayed here at the end of July and had a great time. We recommend room 1, which has its own bathroom. Some rooms do not. The room was clean and spacious. The eating area is next door. You get PLENTY to eat for lunch or dinner. Delicious crab cakes, baked ham, corn pudding (so good), green beans, etc. Breakfast...

The lodging was OK - no real door or ventilation for the restroom, however. For the price, the value was excellent considering that they include breakfast and supper, both of which were very good. This island is very interesting unless someone comes for glitzy entertainment. There is much to see and observe for an interesting way of life and hardy...

We just came back from an overnight on Tangier Island. Loved the island life and the people. The Chesapeake house is not your usual B&B - at least not that I was used to but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed my time with them. The food was amazing! What...

I only spent about 28 hours on this island and fell in love with it and the people! I think the people that live here might be the friendliest people on the planet. The bed and breakfast is very clean and nice and along with breakfast, it also includes an amazing all-you-can eat dinner! Hope to be able to go...

“Room 1 is great!”

“We had the family room with five beds. It was above the famous dining area but totally quiet. The air conditioner was faithfully cool. The only problems were too much light coming in the windows from street lights and four different rooms sharing one bathroom! We seemed to all be women over 50 and at night and early morning we had some serious issues. We found out later that there was another bathroom for employees downstairs that we could have used. This house is so convenient that you don't need a cart because it is where the action is. The hotel carts are great and with them you can see everything on the island and not be exhausted. There are some rooms with private baths at this hotel...we just failed to read the critiques on TA before booking! The people who run this hotel are wonderful. If you don't like charming older homes...don't stay here. The beds are firm, the sheets are soft and you always feel very secure.”
