Kristina at check-in was such a pleasure - cheerful, professional, helpful! All workers were pleasant. Room was fine, as was breakfast. Parking was tight but okay. Great Location!!! It was a fine time!
Customer service was top notch at this hotel. The first night, our door did not close and lock properly. The front desk immediately contacted maintenance (Kevin) who was so quick and professional and fixed our issue right away. Room was big enough for our family and for the most part comfortable. My only complaint about this hotel is that the building is in dire need of renovations. Most doors I noticed on our floor had a lot of wear and tear on them. We expressed this concern with the manager who said they are in the process of fixing a lot of the doors. If they update this hotel, I will definitely be back. All rooms have a view of the ocean which was a huge plus. Easy access to the boardwalk. Thank you for everything!
I am staying at this Hotel on Military orders due to the local Navy Lodge and NGIS booked up and currently undergoing renovations. I unfortunately have to stay at this hotel for 20 days. Yes, it is on the beach and the view is nice for a couple days but it gets old fast. You will experience constant noise from ~0600 until 2200 due to the boardwalk and beach (not the hotels fault but its a fact). I also experienced a constant smell of Marijuana from the other hotel guests smoking on their balconies day in and out which is really awesome considering Military policy on drugs. One of the worst offenses however is they have 1, ONE washer/dryer for the ENTIRE 11 story hotel which is not maintained and loaded with sand. The Housekeeping service is enough to make me blush. They take out about 50% of your trash, do not restock towels properly (They gave me 8 handtowels and no bathtowels one day) and do not change the sheets (They will re-make your bed with the dirty sheets). If you put out a Do Not Disturb sign they will still knock on your door and request you initial a list. Furthermore, on one occasion I was watching a TV show and all of a sudden my door just burst open (it was also deadbolted so it must have been staff), no knock, nothing just privacy to my door wide open in a second. As soon as the person realized I was inside they RAN AWAY. This "Hotel" costs upwards of 200 dollars a night compared to my local Navy Lodge of 83 dollars which has an ENTIRE NAVY EXCHANGE inside. I read some reviews already and the elevator situation has already been beaten to death, so I will just say I have been taking the stairs up to the 8th floor every time. It's not a huge deal to me even carrying a case of beer, but if you are older or have medical conditions this could really be a problem. I could go on and on with the stains on the ceiling, broken and dated furniture, no freezer in the "fridge" (It's a mini fridge with one of those little square "freezers" which won't keep anything frozen, but honestly just stay away, I have had really bad experiences with IIHG hotels recently, the latest being the "CROWNE PLAZA" in Washington DC where I was given a travel voucher by Delta after a cancelled flight but they charged my card anways. I contacted their customer service over half a dozen times to just get put on an indefinate hold. They ony option which was answered by a human being was trying to make a new reservation (go figure, the one option they get money) where I was forced to make some poor desk jockey deal with my issue and get his supervisor. This took about 2 months and multiple calls, sending my old voucher (glad I saved it) to get a 1 night refund of 136 dollars. They just made it as hard as possible in hopes I would give up over such a trivial amount, but it's the principal of the thing. Honestly I have had such a bad experience with IIHG I am putting in a formal request to DAM NECK, OCEANA, NOB, FT STORY, LITTLE CREEK Bases to no longer recommend any IIHG hotels when the local lodges/NGIS are booked. I still have another 13 days left here....great...…
Staff was courteous and professional. Elevator was broken down and the average wait during peak times was 20+ minutes. Parking was inadequate and even with a handicapped plate it was sometimes required to park over a block away. Probably will not be going back.
Our family stayed in this hotel back in 2005 & 2006 and it was nice then. They have recently done a renovation and it is absolutely wonderful. Very clean and comfortable. Shower/Bath was very nice and the mattress and pillows so comfy! The balcony view of the ocean is the best! There was a nice variety of food at the breakfast bar provided in the lobby. Coffee and hot water was available 24.7. I can't say enough about the staff! Friendly and helpful. This was a special trip with my daughter and two adult granddaughters. Thank you for helping to make it a wonderul experience!
The hotel and staff were wonderful. The staff took the time to know our names and to chat with us. It was College Weekend and all the security staff and police were cheerful and polite (especially under the circumstances). There were a lot of renovations going on and once finished it will be beautiful. Our room was wonderful. The room was one of the recently renovated rooms and it was lovely. The room was clean and the mattresses and pillows were great. We especially enjoyed the walk-in shower. It was huge, with a great shower head, even a low step for use during leg shaving. Definitely someplace we will visit again.
Great staff, friendly and very polite. Clean hotel, pool, and rooms. Great water pressure in the shower. Comfortable beds. Cozy rooms. Some construction was going on at the hotel but did not cause us any issues. The construction crew were very polite as well. We had a nice stay and would stay again. Highly recommended.
The good was the view, the comfortable bed, big fluffy towels, and the outstanding supervisor of the breakfast area, who went above and beyond each day. The bad is the hotel is undergoing much needed renovations, starting on the top floors, and it is obviously is in dire need throughout. Wallpaper peeling, stained carpet in the hallways, tub and tiling needs to be replaced, etc. The worst was the parking situation. The spaces are too tight and small, and many spaces roped off due to construction. There are two extra lots, one two blocks away and one three blocks away. We got stuck in the furthest one on our last night. It is poorly lit and isolated, and it was a cold walk late at night. I’m sure it will be a much better stay once renovations are complete.
This hotel is in need of a major renovation. We stayed here for two nights while traveling south.Super small balcony, old, dirty looking furniture.Broken flusher on toilet,Gross looking tub.Bed was comfy and great views of the ocean, boardwalk and city. Not sure I'd return unless it's renovated.
The location, breakfast, pool, gym, and view were incredible. The room was very old and dirty though. The leaking air handler made the rug smell like a dirty diaper. If this hotel renovated and did a better job with cleaning sheets and blankets, it would be perfect. Also the staff was very nice.
