We travelled from Singapore - in less than 4 hours we were in another world. The staff are all super friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. We visited mid-week so pretty much had the resort to ourselves. The rooms are basic/rustic but comfy, and the food was delicious.

Rimba resort is a beautiful and relaxing place for a short break. It took 6 hours to drive from Kuala Lumpur to the jetty, then a fun 20 minute speed boat felt like it took us to a million miles away. The staff are so friendly but not intrusive, the chalet is basic but is open to the beach and the temperature was just perfect, much cooler than the main land. We swam in the sea, snorkelled from the beach, walked to see the coral at low tide and walked in the jungle too. The stay was fully catered and the food was delicious and just the correct quantity, I was never hungry or too full. There's a great bar, which serves Tiger on tap and excellent cocktails, it's very relaxed and a good place to read or watch things - the wifi and 4G is pretty good. It was a truly relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

3 days 2 nights was barely enough fun for us! We spent the first afternoon doing a 20-30min jungle trek to a neighbouring resort Sea Gypsy which had a larger beach - enjoyed it despite the rain. 2nd day - managed to catch some sun in the morning walking along the beach and relaxing. Did a nice 30-45mins walk along the rocky areas at the end of the beach and was awesome watching the waves crash against the rocks. Did some kayaking too! We even had sparklers and a bonfire to celebrate Deepavali - for the kids but adults joined the fun :) 3rd day - squeezed in a swim and bobbed along on the floats. natural wave pool!! Drinks at the bar were affordable and the lounge was cosy and a great place to chill at night. Netflix was available at the only TV in the lounge. Suggestion to have karaoke nights! Food was mostly delicious esp the BBQ night. Service staff super friendly and helpful - Mal, Ruth, Ben, Adam and the rest. Pity we didn’t get to snorkel as weather was not too good. Maybe come by during a more sunny time of year. Expect mozzies and insects to visit you in your room! Huts were basic but clean, note that rooms cannot be locked. No aircon but the sea breeze + fan was cooling enough for a comfortable sleep. Overall, exceeded my expectations! made new friends too. Will be back some time again.

LOCATION: the island is very close to Singapore, so ideal for us for a short vacation. Big plus is the location in a secluded/sheltered area. We could see thunderstorms happening every night in the distance. NEVER touched our island! SERVICE: very good! Bri is the sweetest and uttermost patient dive instructor we have ever met. A real gem! Mal & crew had always smile on their faces when approached and were always willing to have a chat/help you out. This greatly helped the nice 'vibe' you could get there. The only thing I would say is that there is a lack of indication/lists for different activities/things to do on the island. That is: you need to ask and be specific; they answer all your questions, but you have to make sure to ask as much as possible as there could be 'missing parts' that you forget to mention and regret afterwards. FOOD: the BBQ night was great! The food on the other days was ok. This is a small island, so supply is not easy to get. Nonetheless maybe a little bit more of variety would make the dining experience even better.

We stayed at Rimba as a small group of friends travelling from Singapore. The journey there and back was effortless and communcation was great leading up to our stay. The location is beautiful, it almost feels like your own private island. The rooms are basic but clean, spacious and look out onto the beach and ocean. The food was delicious throughout the stay, we were really impressed, and the bar was fully stocked throughout. Lastly, the team were really friendly and always avaialable to help out or suggest where to go snorkling or trek through the jungle. Hopefully we'll be back soon!

Was still as good as I remember from before the Pandemic. My 4th or 5th time going. Great great staff and service. So friendly. Good food. Lovely reef just a paddle away. Would even consider going solo although it's a great group trip away too. Even my friends who were worried about no Aircon or hot water loved it and agreed it was not needed at all.

This stay was war away better than expected. This was very quiet, our kids could snorkelling alone as the beach is very safe, they really feel free. In addition the crew was very helpful and gentle. My last words come to the chef who prepares very tasty meal every day, with special thanks for yhe birthday cake! Again thanks a lot for the stay to the whole crew.

Went to Rimba over the long Easter weekend (forgot to write review). Positives are that it is in a very tranquil setting and definitely laid back vibes - perfect option travelling from Singapore and just hopping in a car to Malaysia. Although the resort is ‘laidback’ that shouldn’t be an excuse for lack of cleanliness. We discovered our pillows were extremely mouldy, there were also brown stains all over the bedding. The bathroom is very basic with no hot water which is fine on a hot day, not so fun when it’s cloudy. They also charge for snorkelling and paddle boarding but no one tells you this and there are no prices till you get your bill at the end. S$40 for one hour of paddle boarding - more than I pay in Singapore! A lot of the snorkel masks are broken so recommend you bring your own to avoid being charged. Massages are featured on the website but no mention of this when you get there. If you’re looking for activities this is very limited as the tide goes out in the afternoon. It seems everything is centred around the bar and drinking and other than that there isn’t much else. The food is ok but pretty basic. There are other islands with a similar ethos that have much better facilities and accommodation for a similar price point (thinking Rawa jn Malaysia or Le pirate island in Indonesia). It just needs a bit of TLC to restore it to its former glory.

Room Tip: Check cleanliness of bedding, ask for a room away from the bar as can be noisy. Bring your own...

The place is really beautiful and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We only got to spend 2 days kayaking/paddle boarding/snorkeling and we wish we could’ve had 10 more. It was also really fun to walk to the neighboring resort and hang out by their beach. Truly a great experience from start to finish. One thing to note: although the villas are very comfortable and honestly not too hot (even in July), there isn’t any A/C or hot water. Bug nets are also there while you sleep to keep the mosquitos at bay at night. We were plenty comfortable, but if that’s a dealbreaker you might want to look somewhere else.
