What a wonderful island retreat. The staff were very friendly, helpful, accommodating to your requests and needs. The food was delicious and varied every meal, so many wonderful options to try. Beds were excellent and all had mosquito nets surrounding the beds fully. The huts were lovely, no screens on the doors or windows, just free flowing, but you can roll down the screens to block out the bugs and daylight. Very rustic setting and natural, but so relaxing and special. With the waves crashing on the beach to lull you to sleep at night. Perfect.
We went for a round the island walk taking us through the jungle to the other side then on to the local village over the other side. Walked through some of the other resorts and on to a few different jetties, as well. Saw the school and the local store, where we stopped for a cool drink.
Walked up and down Rimba beach and asked the staff for a rubbish bag to get a load of washed up rubbish. We went wading and climbing the rocks and found gorgeous wildlife.

This was a last minute family weekend getaway. This is our 2nd time at Rimba. With the Recovery CMO there are only one other couple and a young family at the resort. This is a perfect place to unwind. The water at the beach is clear, and snorkelling at the house reef is great. Food was great as usual with now more local fare on the menu. We went for a scuba dive; however the visibility was poor. We would definitely love to come back!

I was so impressed with Rimba from start to finish. The staff are relaxed, efficient, helpful and respectful and they all went out of their way for us. The food was really good and as someone who has stayed at many island resorts, this was a pleasant suprise. We stayed in the family chalet which was perfect, spacious and cool. The beach is literally infront of the chalet and the sea life was great despite the sadly disappearing coral reefs. The snorkelling trip to smaller islands is worth it too. I highly recommend this resort and look forward to my return. The quality is high throughout, communication excellent and environment a tranquil retreat from busy life. Thank you Rimba for the experience.

Went to Rimba over the long Easter weekend (forgot to write review).

Positives are that it is in a very tranquil setting and definitely laid back vibes - perfect option travelling from Singapore and just hopping in a car to Malaysia.

Although the resort is ‘laidback’ that shouldn’t be an excuse for lack of cleanliness. We discovered our pillows were extremely mouldy, there were also brown stains all over the bedding. The bathroom is very basic with no hot water which is fine on a hot day, not so fun when it’s cloudy.

They also charge for snorkelling and paddle boarding but no one tells you this and there are no prices till you get your bill at the end. S$40 for one hour of paddle boarding - more than I pay in Singapore! A lot of the snorkel masks are broken so recommend you bring your own to avoid being charged.

Massages are featured on the website but no mention of this when you get there. If you’re looking for activities this is very limited as the tide goes out in the afternoon. It seems everything is centred around the bar and drinking and other than that there isn’t much else.

The food is ok but pretty basic.

There are other islands with a similar ethos that have much better facilities and accommodation for a similar price point (thinking Rawa jn Malaysia or Le pirate island in Indonesia). It just needs a bit of TLC to restore it to its former glory.

Really enjoy my 3 nights stay here! Superb location for those who seek refuge from busy city life! Apart from the mosquitoes and rocky beach everything else is beyond excellent. Love how the resort retains most of the natural landscape. Food was really good and staff are really friendly and very accommodating! They even made me teh tarik every morning for breakfast :) You’ll also get one-to-one snorkel lesson which is very helpful and safe! Thanks Nur, Ayu, Niki, Penny and Mal! Already looking forward for the next stay!

Rimba resort is a beautiful and relaxing place for a short break. It took 6 hours to drive from Kuala Lumpur to the jetty, then a fun 20 minute speed boat felt like it took us to a million miles away. The staff are so friendly but not intrusive, the chalet is basic but is open to the beach and the temperature was just perfect, much cooler than the main land. We swam in the sea, snorkelled from the beach, walked to see the coral at low tide and walked in the jungle too. The stay was fully catered and the food was delicious and just the correct quantity, I was never hungry or too full. There's a great bar, which serves Tiger on tap and excellent cocktails, it's very relaxed and a good place to read or watch things - the wifi and 4G is pretty good. It was a truly relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

This stay was war away better than expected. This was very quiet, our kids could snorkelling alone as the beach is very safe, they really feel free. In addition the crew was very helpful and gentle.
My last words come to the chef who prepares very tasty meal every day, with special thanks for yhe birthday cake!
Again thanks a lot for the stay to the whole crew.

The place is really beautiful and the staff is super friendly and helpful. We only got to spend 2 days kayaking/paddle boarding/snorkeling and we wish we could’ve had 10 more. It was also really fun to walk to the neighboring resort and hang out by their beach. Truly a great experience from start to finish.

One thing to note: although the villas are very comfortable and honestly not too hot (even in July), there isn’t any A/C or hot water. Bug nets are also there while you sleep to keep the mosquitos at bay at night. We were plenty comfortable, but if that’s a dealbreaker you might want to look somewhere else.

Was still as good as I remember from before the Pandemic. My 4th or 5th time going. Great great staff and service. So friendly. Good food. Lovely reef just a paddle away. Would even consider going solo although it's a great group trip away too. Even my friends who were worried about no Aircon or hot water loved it and agreed it was not needed at all.

We stayed at Rimba as a small group of friends travelling from Singapore. The journey there and back was effortless and communcation was great leading up to our stay.

The location is beautiful, it almost feels like your own private island. The rooms are basic but clean, spacious and look out onto the beach and ocean.

The food was delicious throughout the stay, we were really impressed, and the bar was fully stocked throughout.

Lastly, the team were really friendly and always avaialable to help out or suggest where to go snorkling or trek through the jungle.

Hopefully we'll be back soon!
