This is a great place to stay (if you can get in -they're booked well in advance and usually sold out.) Gail and Jim are warm hosts and the convenient location to restaurants, downtown, walking on the beach and old Victorian mansions is a bonus.

We've stayed here before and really enjoyed our two nights in the Lighthouse Suite. The hosts are very friendly and the breakfast is great. Easy walk to the waterfront downtown area and Doc's Restaurant is close by.

My wife and i like B&B's and have stayed in many all over the U.S. and Canada. This is one of the best and is a fine example of what a good B&B experience can be. Jim and Gail, the hosts, set a perfect stage for a visit to this fine and friendly resort town.

This is a quiet place on the water with great views of the Straits of Juan de Fuca. All shipping to and from Seattle passes in front. Lots of things to do and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. The house is very nicely decorated but retains the sense that this really an old place. The hot breakfast...

Jim and Gail are easy going, good people. Very welcoming. The art collections are fabulous. Rooms are lovely, bed was comfy with cozy flannel sheets. Breakfast is fabulous. Front yard is heaven... grass, beach, water. I very much want to make this an annual, decadent splurge... [We can't speak to the value below because we purchased our mid-week stay at...

We had a fabulous weekend at Commander's Beach House for our anniversary weekend. It is located on the beach with a great front porch and Adirondack chairs on the yard, to take in the amazing panoramic views of the sound and mountains in the distant. They even provide blankets on the porch to stay warm on a chilly evening. Gail...

And run by the loveliest couple, Jim and Gayle. We enjoyed every minute, breakfast was delicious, and we are scouring our calendars for a time to come back. Our room had the most beautiful view, right on the beach. Fell asleep to waves and ocean breeze. We feel very blessed to have spent the weekend here. We will come again!

This B&B is located right on the beach in Port Townsend and is close (walking distance) to downtown, restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Our room was very comfortable and you could open the window and listen to the surf.

We stayed two days in the Commander's Beach House. Wonderful owners (Hugh and Helen): personable, friendly and very accommodating. We have friends who live in Sequim and Hugh and Helen were welcoming and allowed them to visit with us. Very friendly to visiting Canadians, they love Victoria, B.C. where we are from and we felt an easy bond with them...

We visited this lovely B & B, with an amazing view in October 2016. We felt at home right away. Its was impeccably clean, lovely décor, with quite the view. Our host and hostess made us feel at home right away. The walk to town was easy and we can't wait to go back again. Thank you!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commander's Beach House is the only bed and breakfast that is located right on the water in downtown Port Townsend. You can walk on the beach to Fort Worden or easily stroll three blocks along the water front to all of the downtown shops and restaurants. Three of our rooms face the water and have private baths. Our fourth room faces the garden and has a shared bath located inside of the room. You can enjoy views of Admiralty Inlet, Mt. Baker, Whidbey Island, all of the boats and ships that go into Seattle, as well as vintage wooden schooners and yawls. Eagles, herons, otters and seals are frequently seen by our guests. A full sit down gourmet breakfast is served at individual tables or on our veranda, weather permitting. Come fall asleep lulled by the sounds of the sea and "relax and solve nothing"! ... more   less
