Easy check in process, treated this Diamond member very well. Room was much nicer than the typical Hampton. Number one in Beckley for a reason, would definitely choose this again. Restaurants in walking distance also, great base for visiting New River National Park.
This hotel has an excellent location for any/all Beckley area destinations. Shopping, restaurants, attractions, and grocery stores were all close at hand. My room was very clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. The bed linens were exceptionally soft and provided an excellent night sleep. The front desk staff were as kind and helpful as any I have encountered in years of travel. Just fantastic treatment! I used the guest laundry, and was shocked to see nice newer machines. Another big plus in my book. Overall, I have nothing but great memories of my stay at this hotel.
We were satisfied with our stay. Mitchell at the front desk was more than helpful and our room was comfortable and clean. Mini waffles were a nice touch in the morning. Outdoor pool was closed for season.
While traveling on business or personal reasons, I prefer staying at Hampton Inns since they are typically what you expect. Friendly staff, clean and well maintained. WiFi is always good and the breakfast is both good and convenient.
We picked this location as our central "base" while touring New River National Park. It's convenient to most areas of the park, as well as several nearby state parks. It's also conveniently close to many restaurants and shops, and there is a BP gas station right across the street. Three restaurants are literally steps from the hotel - a Wendy's, a Texas Seakhouse, and a Bob Evans. Front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. We had several interactions, as we contacted them when we ran out of room items like toilet paper and tissues. Housekeeping is by request only, due to the ongoing pandemic, which was fine with us. The only improvement we'd suggest is to ensure before arrival that cleaned and sanitized rooms also have ample supplies. For example, the only reason we ran out of toilet paper was because upon arriving we had less than a half a roll of toilet paper, with no extra anywhere. Had we started with a full roll or had an extra sitting on the shelf below the sink, we wouldn't have run out. (this is not a complaint at all - just suggestion to be even better for the next people). Other pandemic related stuff - they had sanitizing wipes near the entrances and hand sanitizer bottles or stations easily accessible pretty much everywhere. However, there was no plastic divider at the front desk, and not all staff were wearing masks. Also, the tables in the dining area were not socially distanced at all, and we never once saw them wipe down the breakfast tables with sanitizing wipes between people. Never saw them sanitize/wipe down the breakfast area or the coffee area, either. There is definitely room for some improvement in their pandemic safety measures. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The A/C was surprisingly quiet and did a good job of keeping the room cool. There's just enough drawer and closet space, and we liked having a refrigerator and small microwave. The alarm clock display is super bright with no obvious way to darken it, and it had this annoying nightlight feature that turned back on every day even though I turned it off. I ended up draping a towel over the alarm clock to try to darken it. It helped, but too much light escapes into the room around the sides of the window blinds and all around the entry door, so the room was still not as dark as we prefer. Noise wise we had no issues, but we also brought our trusty white noise maker that drowns out other sounds. The pool still appeared to be open and looked clean, though we did not use it. Same for the small fitness center. Breakfast food was standard buffet, with small changes every day. They did not seem to be well stocked (ran out of biscuits one day, bagels another, and we had to tell them both of their coffee cannisters were empty. They could vastly improve this area by doing a little more monitoring and refilling/stocking up as needed. Overall, just a few things that could be improved upon to earn a five star rating, but otherwise this is a solidly "very good" hotel in a great location, and we would definitely return.…
