We stayed for 3 days in April. Let me first say if you are staying in one of the rustic cabins, remember you're staying in a rustic cabin. No frills...well some, if you count electricity and running water. If you stay in April you will probably be cold. When we checked in there was a pile of acorn shells on...

I worked at Cacapon State Park right out of high school under then supt Phillip Dawson. He has since passed away. It was 4 glorious years. Over the years the park has added on additions and park "fun stuff" to do. The mountain top hike with its scenery is just beautiful. If one likes the cabin atmosphere, they have it...

This WV State Park is a classical 1940's wood paneled lodge with a huge lobby, fireplace, game room, and lots of activities with the Rangers. There are nature walks and talks scheduled on weekends, and an evening hike that we enjoyed through their Golf Course paths by candlelight. The staff is very courteous and helpful. Rooms (small by more modern...

Visited Berkeley Springs for a long weekend. Fantastic, I must say. We had two small children with us so we chose a moderate trail for a hike through the park. It was the right choice and it turned out perfectly. Hilly, rocky and the trailblazers were visible throughout the entire walk. Can't wait for a return trip to explain a...

We spent a second Christmas here this year and just love this place! Stayed in cabin 22 with several trailheads right out our cabin door...wonderful! Cabins are very reasonable, clean, basic furnishing, with a great fireplace and free firewood. All set up for housekeeping with all linens provided. The lodge is a short walk away with a restaurant although we...

Wanted to get away for a day or two and reviews, and ads looked great for this place. It was cold and dark day and I got away late so it was also getting dark. I did not want to drive in dark in strange place. As soon as I opened side door my cold body was hit by a...

The room was clean and that's about it. Everything is from the 70's and desperately needs to be updated. The room consisted of a double and a single bed. There was a flat screen TV, but everything else is dated. The person at the front desk was abrupt, not friendly or welcoming.

The Lodge at Cacapon State Park is staffed by friendly, helpful people. The ambiance is definitely rustic resort. The rooms are comfy and modern, although the electric current worked a little eccentrically in that the wall switch by the netry turned on and off the wall lamps over the beds as well as the alarm clock. Every time I switched...

Online, the lodge looked pretty nice and underpriced. Nope. The price was right. Inexpensive. But the building is pretty tired. Had to run the bath full blast on straight hot to get warm water. They still use metal keys. We asked for 2 keys, but they only had one for our particular room.

We stayed here after planning a long weekend at the last minute. They were able to accommodate us with two twin beds in our room. As the other review mention, the rooms are small, but they were clean and comfortable and we were very pleased with what we had, especially for the price we paid. The price for staying here...
