We preferred to put our funds toward another experience rather than an overpriced cabin, but wish we had done that instead of this hotel. The bathroom must have been wiped down with a mildewy cloth. There were still splatters on the toilet seat and an old towel on the back of the door. The shower appeared clean. Before I opened my bags, I wiped down every surface with my own wipes. I've never had to do that in a hotel before. The towels smelled clean. The top bedspread sheet had a stain on it. I didn't walk barefoot in that room for sure. I would never stay here again. Will pay 3 times as much and rent a cabin instead.
The river brought us to the area and this hotel was the most reasonably priced option. The room was clean and sufficient. We stayed end of June and the pool at the hotel was cloudy and green so we skipped that. The breakfast was provided and was decent.
Staff was very friendly upon check in and room was ready upon our arrival at 2:30 so we got checked in settled in. Rooms were fine, I like windows that can open a bit so you can get some “fresh” air, this rooms did not have that but realize it’s probably a safety issue. They served full breakfast not a “grab a bag” and go breakfast. The location was great for where we needed to go. Our room was at the back so very quiet, a big positive for me!
We stayed here two nights while enjoying the whitewater rafting and a local water park. The rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Free continental breakfast was good. There is a sports bar on property that has bar food. This would be a good base camp for those looking to enjoy the outdoors of the area for which they are many.
My 1-night stay was a disaster start to finish. I checked in after 3pm, and when I got to my room, it hadn't been serviced from the previous night. I returned to front desk, and he told me unapologetically that I'd have to wait about 20 mins for a maid to clean it. Why was I given a key to an unserviced room? Then at 4:10 am, the fire alarms sounded throughout the hotel. Groggy guests evacuated to the parking lot. No staff member made any announcement or gave info on the situation. After 4:30 the alarm stopped, so we just all returned to our rooms on our own. At checkout later that morning, no explanation or apology was offered. If at any time during my stay, anyone had said 'sorry for the inconvenience, sir', I wouldn't be posting this review. Comfort Inn clearly isn't concerned with guest relations. There are other options in the New River area, my advice is take your business elsewhere!!!…
