First off, I'm a fan of Comfort Inns in general. stay at them on most travels. This Comfort Inn is fairly nice. We spent a few weekends there since Sept. Rooms are fairly clean, and most of the staff is pretty nice. Only say most because we had a really rude incident with one of the housekeepers (Dawn?) over towels of all things (there weren't any). Don't know, maybe she just had an off day. We could also tell our suitcases had been sifted through when we got back from a hike on that same visit, but at least nothing seemed to be missing. Anyway we'd still stay there again for price and location.

When coming to town for a funeral, I booked reservation because Google query brought up their website, which states: Oak Hill WV hotels, Comfort Inn hotel near New River Gorge Bridge Hotels Oak Hill WV, a pet friendly Comfort Inn hotel near the New River Gorge Bridge and the Historic Fayette Theatre. Hotel offers guests free breakfast daily www.comfortinn.com/hotel-oak_hill-west_virginia-WV100. After a 7 hour drive with children and puppy, the manager says we cannot say, because of the dog. When I begin to cry, due to stress, the death, and the limited amount of time I before the start of the funeral (45 minutes), the manager said I was disturbing the other guests and I would have to leave, Then he called the police on me. My children were scarred by the 2 police cars and the fact that we had to dress for the funeral in the McDonald's restroom. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I almost did not stay at this hotel, due to the fact that they had no photos online when I was booking. Very glad I did! This hotel looked very new, was very clean, and had a VERY nice staff. Which was especially nice when we had to check in at almost midnight! VERY close to everything you need to get to and just lovely.

Let me start out by saying we usually try to stay in Comfort Inns when we travel with our family. This Comfort Inn was one of the least favorite ones I've ever been to. There really isn't anything wrong with it, but it just wasn't one of my favorites. I think the thing I liked the least was how small the room was. We had a room with 2 queen beds, and there really isn't much room to put your suitcase. The bathroom vanity is extremely small, but was very clean. I was a little disappointed in the housekeeping. We had a toy that was under our bed, and the dust ruffle needed to be changed because of a huge water stain in it, and the other room in our party found an MP3 charger still in the room. Finding other guests items in the room kinda of grosses me out. The other negative for us was that the room key didn't work several times. We had to have the card scanned again at the front desk before it would work. This happened twice to us, as well as the other room that was in our party. I'm not sure if it was a problem during our stay or if this happens often. The microwave and fridge are nice. The breakfast was very nice. The kids enjoyed the pool, which is behind the hotel in a fenced in area. The best part of this hotel was the location. It was only 5 minutes from the rafting and zip lining company we were using. Having a Walmart close was nice too. All in all, this hotel is ok, and if I were going rafting again, I would probably stay at it.

This Comfort Inn is in an odd location, by itself on a major highway (rt 19). We have had a very good experience. Our room is clean, the furniture is in good condition, it's a non-smoking room that doesn't smell of smoke. It has been very quiet, we are on the third floor on the backside of the hotel facing the pool. I can imagine that some of the rooms on the first floor facing the parking lot/highway might be a bit noisy. Even though it sems like a strange location, it has been very convenient driving to our activities (horseback riding at Babcock State park and whitwater rafting with NARR). It's very close to Fayetteville, Oak Hill and Hawk's Nest State park. The price was a little more than we wanted to pay (average $92/night with AAA discount), but not outrageous. Delux continental breakfast is included, which is rare at hotels anymore. Breakfast is more than just Danish and muffins. It also included waffles, sausage and egg biscuits or biscuits with white gravy, bagels, cold cereal, and oatmeal. The also have a refrigerator and microwave in every room, which is very handy. I definitely recommend this place in an area that has limited selection for accommodations. Oh, and the wireless internet does work, I'm using it now!
