Ok. Don't expect a truly historic hotel to have "modern" anything. This place is kept in its original condition with minor upgrades. Of course the floors squeak, the pipes knock, and it looks like 1880 in every way. Wacky, wonderful, with friendly folks, and an authentic saloon. If you want a marble bath, don't come here. If you want Victorian...

Love this hotel. Yes, the floors squeak and maybe a bit unleveled, but this grand place is living history. Don't come here and expect a luxury hotel, but instead a unique one of a kind opportunity to experience a bit of old west history. Would I stay here again? ABSOLUTELY!

Amazing place. If you want to experience the True Wild West. The hotel is kept exactly like the old times and it has become a museum. You can go inside and look around and see some of the rooms. They have a lot of information about the place and famous guest they had in the old times

Experience the Old West at it's finest!! The OH is a museum within a luxury hotel with an amazing collection of original pieces from the architecture, furniture & decor. Do NOT expect a quiet stay, as the hardwood floors come with the original squeaks along the corridors, (it was actually a wonderful addition to the ambiance for us!! ) Our...

Want history? Authentic old west? This is the place to see. Want a restful night of sleep? Move on! Because of it's age and authenticity, you will be awakened repeatedly throughout the night by the sounds of the creaking wood floors, squeaky mattress springs, and ancient plumbing The bar food menu is very limited, and service is less than "friendly"....

We chose the Hemingway because it has a deck overlooking the creek, but which happens to be positioned right next to the aircon units and with an overhanging tree covering most of it. Bathroom is separated by a curtain, not a wall! It was also a pretty small room but no doubt that's because I didn't pay for a suite!...

I'm not sure how to start this review. I wouldn't say this was a great hotel experience or a bad hotel experience, but it was certainly interesting. We found everyone working here (at the hotel) to be very friendly & gracious. The exception was the saloon. The bartender was less than cordial & seemed put out to have to mix...

This is a true historic hotel. Lots of artifacts of the Old West. A lot of the details are original to the hotel. It was like walking back in time. The staff were super friendly and very very helpful. We loved the room! I would have loved to stay longer.

Spent 1 night at the Occidental in the Hover suite, good historic room but not recommend if you are a light sleeper or two of you in the bed. Unfortunately the bed sagged in the middle and we didn't get a good night's sleep, I finally gave up and slept on the sofa.(told the receptionist and she made a note...

We arrived after 6 after a long day of sightseeing. The owner and hotel attendant were very nice to help us with parking since all parking in front of the hotel was taken. We also had dinner in the Virginian Restaurant which was very good, and service was excellent. It's a fun hotel with a definite western old hotel &...
