This is our second stay at the cottage at Ka'awa Loa Plantation. Michael, Greg, and Hannah are wonderful hosts and truly makes us feel at home! They are great at suggesting things to do around the area. The breakfasts are delicious, with fruits grown on the property (try abiu!). There are always afternoon snacks as well. The view at sunset...

This plantation turned into a B&B is gorgeous, the view from the veranda is fantastic. You feel that you are travelling back in time a bit The breakfast is excellent the owners welcome you with wafers with roasted mac nuts sauce (which was out of this world good), fresh omelette, freshly squeezed orange juice you can just relax, enjoy the...

Quiet setting on the hill above Captain Cook monument, beautiful sunset on the verandah, great breakfast with fresh local fruit. Efficient owners and good service. I recommend staying a couple nights to relax or go snorkeling at Keakekua bay by Captain Cook monument, it is 2 km from the trailhead. To be fair, the breakfast is great but the coffee...

We stayed in the cottage which was cozy and very comfortable. Being up a long driveway from the road meant a very quiet night's sleep. Despite the vog, the view from the property was unreal. There's a hot tub to enjoy the sunset from and a solar powered outdoor shower to rinse off in. Hannah was super friendly and helpful,...

This plantation turned into a B&B deserves an award ! The huge house makes you travel back in time. Greg welcomes you with warm home made mac nuts brownies. You could spend hours relaxing on the terrasse, contemplating the garden, the valley and the sea, while drinking a cup of the plantation coffee. Rooms are arranged with taste, personalized and...

Beautiful property and rooms near Captain Cook. Short drive to Two Step or Captain Cook for snorkeling or kayaking. About 20 min to Kona. The breakfasts are amazing! They grow their own coffee and serve fresh fruit from their property. Michael and Hannah are lovely and helpful. We didn't meet Greg. They have plenty of towels, beach chairs, etc for...

I was a little concerned when I booked Ka'ava Loa as it is far from the beach, but as soon as we walked in the lovely open entrance we were transformed. The lodge is at the higher part of the hill overlooking the beach plain pretty near the Place of Refuge. Tropical birds and frogs call through the evening breezes...

This is truly the best place to stay on the Big Island. I was at the Royal Hawaiian on Oahu shortly before arriving here, and Ka'awa Loa was honestly much better. Beyond the insanely reasonable price, you are provided with a superb breakfast spread each morning that incorporates tropical fruit and fresh Kona coffee from their plantation. You then have...

What a fantastic place! We usually stay in boutique luxury hotels, but I have to say this gives many of them a run for their money. Michael is hilarious, a fabulous host, excellent chef and has lots of great recommendations for eating out and activities. We stayed in the suite which was huge, comfortable and had everything you could possibly...
