We stayed four days at the Jacaranda Inn. The room was dirty, unkept, and very disappointing. There were cobwebs and dust every where. In addition, ants on the floor, the bathroom tile look like it had not been mopped in months and so much food and dust in and behind the couch it made you cringe! This is not a...

I LOVE THE JAC. I discovered this property 4 years ago while on assignment on the big Island. Waimea, especially, has a unique and lovely peace. Due to Keck they have rules about the amount of outdoor lights in town....so nightfall means literally...nightfall. Next light is the sun. The Jacaranda has become my escape. My quiet place. My mental reboot....

The room's appearance was nice, clean, the bed was acceptable. No a/c no screens on the windows or doors. The insects were not deterred by the best of bug repellent. The age of the building showed it's presence in the lobby and in the room.

A group of us stayed in different rooms at the Inn. Nice quiet getaway to enjoy a Big Isle. Nice walk around the property in the up-country altitude. Each traveler had his/her room with a different feel. Would be nice to bring a family to or have a reunion at.

This is an inn; no breakfast. And don't expect hosts to hover. It is a fascinating and historic building that has grown over the years. Once it was home to a Parker Ranch manager, later Lawrence Rockefeller's quarters. The sprawling public rooms, library, and billiard room are all quite amazing. The guest rooms, with their 12 foot ceilings, are elegant...

We had a decent stay at the jacaranda. The rooms were clean, the bathroom was huge, and the property was nice. Reading previous reviews, I would agree it was sort of strange. It's not your typical hotel where you are walk in and be greeted by the front desk staff. We walked down the long hallway, and I had to holler...

This was one of the most unusual stays we've had. We selected this after reading a review in The Big Island Revealed. We arrived, my husband checked us in and we never saw anyone again! We knew breakfast was on our own and it is close to Waimea so this is not a problem. It was just a bit odd....

The Inn was very charming but very much in need of a facelift. It seems worn rather than charming. With a little tender loving care it could be wonderful but sadly they seem to be doing the bare minimum to maintain the property.

This is a lovely property with unusual decor in the rooms, probably not to our taste, but notwithstanding, the host was a strange sort and not particularly welcoming. Wifi only works in the main room. Eerily similar experience to swans11's review.

There's a lot to like about this place, with a couple of caveats. I should preface this review with a warning that when I have time off and stay on island, I am usually at a ocean side resort, or camping. This was my first experience staying in Waimea, and the first night we had a storm where winds on...
