The hostel is not bad (the rooms are clean and the facilities are good) but pretty far from everything. You definitely need a car to stay at this hostel. However, I don't recommend staying there. The price is excessive (34$ for a dorm) and the "manager" is very rude: - We kindly asked if a discount was possible and she...

The rooms were okay and clean. Showers and kitchen close at 10am. U can't get 2 ur drinks or clean urself up. The manager was hard to reach and when u asked something the reaction was very friendly. Location was far from supermarkets or any beaches.

Stupid rules and they actually lock showers and kitchen doors at 10pm and don't open until 6am.... So much for late check in and early depart! Poor value for money Top bunk to close to bottom bunk, no head rest and pillow flies off the end of bed. No access to phone.... Use across the road. It's like being in...

We stayed here for 5 nights in a private room. The queen sized bed was comfortable & room was clean. The owner was a very nice, helpful & friendly lady. This hostel is located in Captain Cook & not actually right in Kona. That may be an issue if you do not rent a vehicle, but not necessarily. There are...

Although I had mistakenly booked a room at the Volcano location and there is normally a two night minimum stay, the owner was very kind and we were able to have a single night stay in one of the rooms usually reserved for stays of a week or more. We enjoyed the comfortable room, which was absolutely spotless. Would have...

We didn't have any problems per se with this hostel and since we were last minute to book a place, I was happy to find one at all, but if you have a choice, I would say you might want to stay somewhere else. First, this is a little drive from Kailua-Kona and without a car, that traveling was a...

This hostel is okay when you're not expecting much. The rooms were overprized: $34 for a 16-bunk-mixed-dorm that had no lock, hard matraces, and one of my travel mates didn't even get sheets. Apparently, we were ripped off with the semi-private room. On the home page, it is stated that the room is $69 a night (the one without an...

Rented a private room for 3 nights. Owners are quiet and run a tight ship. Be kind, friendly, and courteous and you will receive the same back. I used this hotel/ hostel as a home-base to explore. You will need a vehicle here, as it is quite a ways from most attractions. Don't bother reading the hate mail on this...

First I want to say that I didn't stay here, and neither should you! Go to Manago Hotel a only a little bit further up the road. We arrived here without reservation and were warned about the rudeness from the owner so we put on some new clothes after the hike we took earlier. It was clearly not enough, we...

A homely hostel to use as a base to visit sites of interest on the west side of Hawaii's Big Island if you have a vehicle, the local bus stops outside and the highway location good if you're hitching rides. Stores, restaurants, amenities and plenty of fresh Kona coffee and chocolate nearby, and historical Kona town is only 15min drive....
