This place is wonderful. Not fancy but clean and comfortable, we recommend it to any one who is in the area looking for a relaxing, reasonably priced place to stay or is going on a lava boat tour and doesn't want to have a super long drive before or after their trip. We're staying on the Kona side this vacation...

Exactly what we needed. Our host cheerfully supported our very late arrival, lights were on, units breezy, 5 minutes from Isaac hale marina. Close to delicious chef- grown restaurants in pahoa. We stayed one night before our lava boat trip.

The four of us (two couples) spent one night here before a 4:30 am lava boat tour departure. It is located in a "jungle" and convenient to the meeting point at Isaac Hale Beach Park. The inn has six bedrooms, some with sitting rooms. There is a kitchen and 2.5 bathrooms. We had room 1 and 5 and we were...

I'm a resident of the Big Island so I know places in lower Puna are hard to find. There are attractions down there, but few places to stay. So I was surprised when I found this place. It's great! I can't believe people aren't flocking here. There is nothing wrong at all. Clean, cool room. A quite courtyard to read...

We planned a three-week stay on The Big Island, (November 2015) one week was a workshop in Pahoa sandwiched between two weeks of sightseeing. We took a few nights to stay on the other side of the island south of Kona in Captain Cook at an old Japanese hotel, Manago, but came back to Kapoho for the remainder of our...

We feel so lucky that Chris had room for our one night in the Pahoa / Red Road area. We were a last-minute booking but Chris was all "no problems" and the price was more than right!! I hesitate to even write what we paid in the event he decides to charge more because he certainly could. There are four...

They welcomed us very well and they gave us a lot of advices about what to do and to see in Pahoa. We only stayed there one night. We wished we had stayed more than one night because there is so many things to do in Pahoa that we did not know. The house was very clean. The whole shabang!...

The grounds are like the Garden of Eden, with all kinds of tropical plants and exotic fruit. This charming, plantation-style inn is spotless, and neatly decorated in shabby chic. Loved our suite, plenty of privacy, space to relax, and TV if you want it...my 8-year-old son liked exploring the grounds, and said "I could live here." Beds are super comfy,...

Being a long-time Hawaii resident, I wanted to stay in an "off the tourist track" area while exploring the Big Island for a few days. Kapoho is the perfect place to stay for a couple nights while visiting the Volcano, tide pools, lava flows, and beaches of the Puna district. Kapoho Village Inn was very clean and very quiet. All...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Step back in time, when railroads and sugarcane dominated the Big Island of Hawaii. This former railroad station now caters to visitors in search of adventure. Sunshine, cooling trade winds and mountain glimpses all compliment its choice hilltop location. Our small hotel is nestled beside Green Mountain with its crater lake, where you're only a short 5 minute drive to incredible snorkeling in the Kapoho tide pools, soaking in the Ahalanui hot ponds, or catching a wave at Pohoiki. ... more   less
