Aloha, So sorry for the late response we were on the mainland for an emergency. In response to your question yes a car is needed for this side of the Island, actually for anywhere on the Island it is so very large. There are not actual "Beaches" on this side, but many beautiful spots to go into to the water and enjoy. Our thermally heated hot ponds, the numerous Kapoho Tide Pools to name a few. The volcano is about 40 minutes away to stand over the crater, in Pahoa town, this will sound strange, but at the end of Apaa Street where our transfer station is you view the results of the latest lava flow and many offerings that were made there. Much to see. Please let me know if you have more questions. Mahalo for checking in!
