My husband and I stayed in the Sanctuary for a few nights to check out the volcano. Peter greeted us and gave us a great orientation to our lodging. The property is very cool, narrow pathways through lush jungle landscape which provide just enough protection from the other guests. I thoroughly enjoyed the detached bath house, I must have gone...

Aloha Susan, Thanks for your enthusiastic review, especially on your relaxing moments in the Japanese soaking tub! The Sanctuary is the smallest accommodation in our collection of 4 private guests cottages. The bed is in fact a queen bed. All our cottages have queen beds. We hear that the space was cozy, and the bed small for you. Yes, our...

We wanted to make our friend's 70th birthday a special experience. It just so happened that there was only one night available at the Volcano Rainforest Retreat, so the four of us ... two couples ... booked that one night in the Bamboo Cottage. It was absolutely breathtaking ! An architectural masterpiece with attention to every detail awaited us. We...

My husband & I spent 2 nights in the Forest House, a cozy, 8-sided wooden house with skylights & huge windows that look out into the tree fern & 'ohi'a forest. Our first morning, we saw a Kalij pheasant right outside the window, looking proud of himself. Breakfast was provided in a basket the day before, so we could eat...

We stayed for 3 nights in the Sanctuary cottage which was as if we were in a Japanese glass enclosed wonderland in the middle of a jungle. The room was cozy with a small kitchenette, bathroom, and a very comfortable queen bed. The design of the cottage and its decor was so beautiful with Japanese elements. Each evening as we...

We;ve been to Volcano many times. This was the most remarkable environment we've experienced. Every detail is so carefully planned. The woodwork of the buildings is gorgeous and the landscaping remarkable. We even had a flock of rare Kalij pheasants stroll across our lanai one afternoon. The bedding is lush. Loved the hottub and the fireplace. Couldn't really ask for...

We spent two nights here and it could not have been lovelier. The cottage is beautifully designed with Japanese touches and decor, and a real sense of serenity and grace is present in the unit.
