We;ve been to Volcano many times. This was the most remarkable environment we've experienced. Every detail is so carefully planned. The woodwork of the buildings is gorgeous and the landscaping remarkable. We even had a flock of rare Kalij pheasants stroll across our lanai one afternoon. The bedding is lush. Loved the hottub and the fireplace. Couldn't really ask for...

We spent two nights here and it could not have been lovelier. The cottage is beautifully designed with Japanese touches and decor, and a real sense of serenity and grace is present in the unit. We had a family of four in the Bamboo Cottage, and everything about it was just right. Location was quiet and peaceful, in the forest...

We stayed here for two nights looking for complete relaxation and privacy. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Lisa. She didn't ask to see any identification or credit card info. Asked if I was so and so and prompted us to walk towards the path to our room. Lisa showed us around and went over the rules etc. We were...

Stayed in the Sanctuary Cottage which has and interesting hexagonal shape. It was very cozy and comfortable with a great bed. Breakfast was in the form of fresh fruits and breads left in our cottage every morning and were very satisfying. Slicing a banana and putting it in a papaya half was a great idea suggested by our cottage keeper....

We stayed in the "Sanctuary" cottage for our anniversary. It was small but well-designed and beautiful. It has an outdoor shower that my wife was worried about freezing in, but it also has a Japanese hot soaking tub so you could warm up if you got cold in the shower. The hot tub was great. We enjoyed the breakfast food...

Peter and I appreciate hearing from you about your stay with us in the native Hawaiian rain forest. It means a lot to know you enjoyed the outdoor experience, close to the elements and surrounded by the beauty of the forest setting. Yes, sun and rain, that is what keeps it so lush and green. Mahalo!

My husband and I LOVED this sweet, private space in the rainforest. We spent 4 of our 12 nights on the Big Island here. Dorothy greeted us and brought us to our cottage, The Sanctuary. She was warm, welcoming, and shared a lot of knowledge with us. My husband and I are Vegan and they took care to make sure...

Callie, We appreciative your thoughtful acknowledgement of our managers, and Peter too. Thank you for mentioning the peacefulness in the rain forest. We do regret that you had any discomfort with roaches. They can be part of the tropical climate here. We do want our guest to be cared for and comfortable. In addition to the traps, we use an...

My wife and I were on the Big Island for 10 days, with 8 days in Kona and 2 in Volcano. We booked a 2-night stay in the Bamboo Guest Cottage and in our 15 years of traveling, the Volcano Rainforest Retreat was the best experience we have ever had and our only regret was booking a too-short stay. We stayed for 4 nights in the Forest House and it was absolutely lovely. The Forest House is a beautiful little cottage. The little seating area and fireplace are nice touches. Perfect place to stay on our honeymoon. The location in a rainforest is truly unique, intimate, and romantic. We stayed in the Bamboo Guest House. The Japanese style design is relaxing, comfortable, and beautiful. All this is just minutes from Volcano National Park and a short drive to Hilo. A truly special place to stay!!
