We were met by Lenny who welcomed us and gave us a lot of help with the things in Volcano Park..Clean, comfortable, very pleasing room. We stayed 4 nights and liked the privacy and the quietness. The road to the house is about 1 mile long and the house is right at the end .We learned the meaning of ALOHA...

Volcano Fern Forest Retreat had so much potential, but we would absolutely not book here again. We stayed during a colder period with outdoor temperatures in the mid to low 50s. The room lacks central heating, leaving only a gas fireplace for warmth. Our first night, we ran it a bit before going to sleep and turned it off before...

surrounded by a beautiful fern forest (lives up to it's name) and definitely off the grid. Nice room with all necessary facilities. Trip advisor states they they have high speed internet access - they do have wifi but not hi-speed. It also states free breakfast, which was not the case when we stayed. Despite this we enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was very tidy, cute and clean! Large enough to make us comfortable and we slept like babies after a wonderful long hike in the dark! Lenny the owner gave us some great advise about the hike as well. Our breakfast was small but with fresh milk and juice, it was enough. We would definitely stay again!

Such a lovely little hideaway Len has here. It is conveniently close to Volcanoes National Park (~10 min drive). The room was spotless and comfortable, with microwave, bottled water, coffee, dishes, fridge, and bug spray (a must in Hawaii). Every morning, Len left us muffins and fresh fruit from his garden. We were especially thankful for the tip on going...

The owner is extremely nice. Place was spotless with Direct TV, It is more like a small house with propane fireplace, couch, small kitchen. This is a quiet place to stay while visiting the Volcano National Park. It is a bit further out than I thought, but definitely worth the few extra minutes to the park. Cereal, fruit, milk and...

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, and was very sad I could only be there 1 night. (Per the owner, Len, he is one of the only places that will accommodate a 1 night stay in the area, BTW.) The room was immaculate, spacious, and just off to the side of the main house (where Len resides). I liked this,...

We stayed 2 nights recently at Volcano Fern Forest Retreat and really enjoyed the quiet, thoughtful hospitality. The suite was nicely decorated, very clean and suited us perfectly. It included a continental breakfast that was delivered the night before so we could be on our way early for a day of hiking. The host had all the literature we needed...

This is by far the best place we stayed on our Big Island trip. It's close to Volcanoes NP and has everything you could wish for. Very nice decorated and the surroundings are perfect on a remote part of the village in the middle of the rainforest The owner is very friendly and helpful. So highly recommandable, we will stay...

Stayed here for only one night but Lenny welcomed us as if we were long-time friends rather than strangers he'd never met before. We chose Volcano Fern Forest Retreat based on the reviews of other Trip Advisor raters, and are so glad we did! This place was absolutely beautiful, immaculately clean, quiet and secluded, and Lenny had thought of every...
