First of all, I was resisting writing this review because part of me doesn't want this secret to get out! My partner and I stayed in the Hale Iki cottage, which is one of the Country Goose's "remote" houses. As other reviews mentioned, you really are out in a private part of the beautiful rain forest. Just pulling up to...

Staying in Hilo, Hawaii was just incredible. It was raining every morning but drive 30 minutes out of Hilo, then there was the beautiful sunshine. We were told rains stops at 10:00 am and sure it was. My family and I drove to Kona to explore and yet we didn't find the same atmosphere as Hilo. People were very hospitable...

Joan's hospitality was overwhelming, the country goose was so relaxing and the ambiance of our cottage made us feel right at home in hawaii. The breakfast and company started off our day with warmth.

Our entire group rented the Hale Iki for three nights, Country Cottage for two nights, Pukeawe for two nights and a B&B room for one night. We are very pleased to say that all the acoomodations as well as the breakfasts were great. The Hale Iki was our honeymoon suite. It is situated in the rain forest. it is a...

You just can't beat what you get for the price! My boyfriend and stayed here for 2 nights when we were touring Volcanoes National Park. We loved that it was so close to the park's entrance because it rains A LOT on that side of the island. Being really close allowed us to dart back and forth between showers. The...

We loved having a private cabin offsite. We got so used to being happy hermits that breakfast at the main house felt a little less than desirable. The food there, service, company was great - just was also fun to be in the a beatuful rainforest cabin alone with my partner for our honeymoon :)

We stayed at the Country Goose for three nights in March, 2007. What a setting! Surrounded by the Hawaiian rainforest with gigantic tree ferns just beyond our lanai. Joan Earley is not only a great cook, but knows how to make orchids grow like weeds in her garden. Lovely, private, quiet setting away from the main highway, yet very close...

We spent two nights at the Country Goose on the King-Room and we had a great time! Joan is great! The breakfast is amazing. The room is very comfortable and well-furnished. And we had plenty of privacy. My husband loved the very comfortable chairs in the room! I loved the fresh smell of the linens and towels! This was the...

Very comfortable room (called the King Room, despite queen-sized bed). Clean, nicely furnished, adequate space and plenty of privacy. On our first morning we heard what sounded like a party coming from the breakfast room, and discovered it was a mini-reunion between the owner (Joan) and a group of folks who come back every year. Speaking to her later, it...

My wife and I spent 3 great nights at the Country Goose B&B while visiting Hawaii for a few weeks this past Thanksgiving. The B&B house (where breakfast is served and where the two B&B rooms are located) is on a quiet residential street of Volcano Village, a minute's drive to the Volcano Village restaurants, and just a couple of...

“It is a bit difficult to navigate the route between Hilo & Volcano in the dark. The street signs are at best hard to see ( if indeed they weren't missing) and many names are similar in sound & spelling. Our GPS wasn't any help, having lost it's satellite connex. Once you find your way, it's easier if you've paid attention!”
