This was our base of operations for a week of sightseeing & hiking in the national park. The house is very quiet, (the coqui frogs we had heard about were seemingly absent!) comfortable and in a perfect location. You literally drive a few minutes actually back to enter the park gates. The elevated south-facing lot made for a view of...

great cottage surrounded by rainforest! it has all the ameneties you might want, stove, microwave, nice bath tub, great bed, fire place, TV, even washer and dryer. The location is good and i like that the bedroom is on the second floor of this cottage so the view from there is neat. We pard about 150$/night, i think it was...

Location: This spotless cottage (Pukeawe Place) is managed by the Country Goose Inn and the keenly efficient Joan and is situated very close to the national park entrance in a quiet, residential neighborhood. The cottage sleeps approximately 6 and has a fully equipped kitchen. Laundry was a huge bonus for us. While the interior was well appointed and tidy, I...

Let me start out by saying my only regreat about renting this house is that we were only able to stay for one night! Everything was perfect from my first conversation with Joan, the wonderful manager of this property. She answered my emails very quickly and made me feel very comfortable about renting this house. I needed a place for...

We stood in the Pukeawe Place for three nights. A beautiful home with modern ambience. Everything was very clean and nice. In Volcano there's only a veeeerrrryyyy small General Store... So bring your stuff from Hilo or Kona with you. We were so lucky that we had this amazing breakfast with gorgeous Joan. It was like your Grandma was taking...

This place is buried deep in a heavily forested area but the streets are laid out in a grid plan so it is easy to find with the owners instructions. We stayed in the room to the left of the main entrance. It was clean, well furnished and had a very comfortable bed. Like everywhere we went on the Big...

Now I know it's in the jungle and secluded and all and I really wanted to love it, my girlfriend and I was really looking forward to the giant tub. But then there was the unwelcoming surprise to find large spiders in the tub and kitchen sink, and spider nests in all corners of the cottage. I'm not arachnophobic but...

We live in Hilo and wanted to spend a night somewhere special after a nice Valentine's dinner. We selected the King's Suite, which was everything the photo on her website was. Although this room is part of the main house, we had a separate entry. The room was quiet, private, spacious, clean, and had more than we needed. Joan is...

I recently stayed at Pukeawe Cottage, of Joan's Country Goose B & B, with my sister's family. It was very cozy, well-appointed but not cluttered, very clean, with all the modern conveniences. The yard was beautifully landscaped, complete with wild pheasants roaming around. Joan is a fantastic hostess, made us all feel so welcome, and she served us a wonderful...

We (young couple) stayed there for two nights during our vacation on Big Island. It is very close to the Volcano National Park. Joan is a really cute and lovely person who serves a wonderful breakfast every morning. You don`t need lunch after it. She bakes fresh waffles or pan cakes or muffins and serves also fresh fruits, coffee and...

“It is a bit difficult to navigate the route between Hilo & Volcano in the dark. The street signs are at best hard to see ( if indeed they weren't missing) and many names are similar in sound & spelling. Our GPS wasn't any help, having lost it's satellite connex. Once you find your way, it's easier if you've paid attention!”
