I knew it was going to be beautiful... never expected SO MUCH! They call Kawaii the Garden Island; I would call it the Magic Island, reinforced by Hale Makai´s location and its wonderful vibes. The Cottages are on the northern shore of Kawaii, away from the most touristy areas and yet close to everything I love. They have the privacy...

If you are going to Kauai to get away, I highly recommend this rental. We stayed in Hibiscus (cottage 2) for 6 nights. If you are coming for restaurants and shopping, you may consider staying elsewhere. If you want to wake up, step out your back door and watch the sunrise on the beach, and at night fall asleep to...

We had some trouble with the lock box on arrival to cottage #2. Guests from cottage #3 helped us out and Susan the hostess called us within minutes of an email I sent. We settled in and had a very pleasant stay. Pluses: fast reliable internet, great ocean view, beach access takes 1 minute if you go slow, comfortable bed,...

Aloha, Mahalo for your review. Cottage #2 is a favorite of many guests and its very easy to see why when you're sitting on the deck! We hope you'll come see us again very soon.

Inconvenienced. Irritated. Ignored. These are not the feelings I expected to have after splurging for a luxury property in paradise. We paid for five nights, which is not what we got. I would be remiss if I did not write a review that captured what happened. The Hale Makai cottages were only available for 5 nights of our trip so...

We could not have imagined just how breathtaking, beautiful, and peaceful Orchid Beach Cottage #3 would be. It was a perfect setting for our honeymoon set on the shores of the gorgeous North Shore with crystal clear waters abounding. Neatly furnished both in the interior and exterior, the sounds and smell of the ocean breeze, the waves crashing footsteps away,...

How lucky we were to experience this perfect slice of paradise by the sea for 14 nights! We just loved our stay at beautiful Orchid Beach Cottage no. 3 with magnificent sea views and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone. Location – 10 out of 10: Hale Makai is located in fairly remote Ha’ena and therefore it is...

My wife does the arrangements and scored unit #2, which is ocean front with a great deck and view. The 2 bedroom unit is very modern and spacious with high quality tiles and furnishings. Having no AC is nice since you mostly don't need it but would have run it 12/7 which means you constantly have to acclimate. The reef...

We just stayed in Cottage 1. How anyone can write a negative review is beyond me. First impression, gorgeous location and we walked into a beautiful clean unit. The location is fantastic. Tranquil, quiet views abound. The beach 20 feet from the cottage has great snorkeling and you can walk about 1/4 mile to tunnels beach. Beautiful sandy beaches stretch...

After our last stay at the Westin on Maui, my husband and I thought it would be good to rent a place with a kitchen so that we could make breakfast, etc. for our son, and have more of a "home" feel. We booked Cottage #1 at Hale Makai for 6/25-7/3. We almost left on 6/25, 6/29 (booked Sheraton in...

We are disappointed to hear you did not enjoy your time at Hale Makai Cottages. We truly pride ourselves on offering a location that honors the natural vibe of the island and is not a large resort, but is fully equipped for a pleasant and relaxing Hawaiian Vacation. We realize this may not be the ideal for everyone and it...

This place is the perfect combination of resort and private home! The grounds were so private and well maintained, you won't have random people walking through to get to the beach! No detail was left undone in the interiors. We stayed in #2 for our honeymoon the first week of November and we couldn't have been happier, 8 days just...
