Hi, We were there in February, so I don't know how the pool is in October. Since the weather is the same everyday, I would assume that it would be just fine. For more information you should contact "the Parrish Collection Kauai" and the helpful people who manage the Waikomo villas can answer any questions you have. You can walk to see the sunset in about 5 minutes. If you are hauling a bunch of stuff to the beach I would rent a car.

Hi! There is no 24 hour reception desk. There is a manned office (it was a woman while we were there) in a little office no bigger than several phone booths packed in together nestled between the parking lot, the swimming pool, and the first building. She was very friendly and helpful.
The office hours are posted on the front of the building (I believe they are 9-5) along with a dropbox where you can place your keys if you need to check out before they open as we did.
There is no security guard, but the area is very safe and the units are secured with doorknob lock, a deadbolt, and an internal door jam. At no time did I feel unsafe.
The area is also cared for daily by groundskeepers and gardeners.
