It's a diamond in the ruff. Its a must see, stay and enjoy the west side of kauai kind of experience. You will not be disappointed. Although it's PLANTATION HOMES each one is UNIQUE with all its MODERN UPGRADES. Fully loaded kitchen with all its amenities and the bedding was a five star rating. Our walk in shower was Huge,...

Simply AMAZING! That is what folks were saying about the Waimea Cottages. We booked several cottages for our company holiday celebration and could not have had a better time. Everyone loved their cottage - especially the tub/shower setup. The kids had plenty of space to run and play. Others sat on the lanai and watched for whales. An absolute perfect...

Beautiful and expansive location, well maintained, lots of cottage choices as to number of bedrooms. The area never looks busy, yet they are booked. The beach is not white sand pretty, but it's EMPTY if you wish to be by yourselves. Is this the Royal Hawaiian? Not at all, and that is what makes it so appealing. Definitely not uppity!

These cottages are a little off the beaten track which is just what I like. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Every who works there were helpful and friendly. The cottages are old which is fine it adds to the experience as it was a plantation, however if you were expecting updated interiors don't stay here, it is rustic....

Stayed for three nights in December in an ocean view cottage. The cottage was spacious and had a large covered porch with a view down the lawn to the ocean. Despite having lots of cottages close together, it was very private. It's an easy 15-20 minute stroll into town where there are 2 large grocery stores. We had a great,...

Older restored cottages, park-like setting, beach location, quiet and charming, close to town. Not geared for typical tourists expecting loud fun times with a huge pool and all that. More like a step back in time. However, a few of the cottages (#14) are not restored and not worth the money at all. Prior to booking a cottage, get a...

These cottages remind me of the old school summer cottages in Michigan I grew up with. Sound of the screen door slamming. Sitting on the porch looking at the water. Beautiful grounds. Birds. No need for a wakeup call, the rooster will take care of that. Listen to nature awake at sunrise. Your own weber kettle on the patio. Full...

Waimea is Old Hawaii; staying at the Plantation Cottages is living in a relaxed beautiful ambience, without the frills. You could spent your whole time on the property, or explore the many treasures of the Garden Island.

Our seven-member family spent Thanksgiving in the Kruse House at the Waimea Plantation Cottages and had a fabulous time. A highlight was roasting our turkey in the communal luau pit. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful grounds. We'll be back next year.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Private, individual plantation cottages set on a historic 27-acre coconut plantation in a beachside setting close to Kauai's famous Napali Coast and Waimea Canyon. Each self-contained cottage has been fully restored with modern appliances, full kitchens, and amenities. The simple, comfortable charm, genuine history and beautiful grounds allow guests to enjoy a unique experience unlike any other in the islands. Waimea Plantation Cottages offers beautiful settings for Wedding Celebrations, Anniversaries, Family Reunions, and Corporate Business meetings. Note: The restaurant will be closed temporarily as we remodel and transition the restaurant to a new restaurant operator and will re-open in mid-to-late fall of 2013. We apologize for this temporary inconvenience. During this transition, we suggest trying some of the other dining options in Waimea Town such as Wrangler's Steak House. But do come and try our new restaurant once it reopens! ... more   less

“We booked an superior ocean view cabin. It doesn't cost much more and it was lovely. We weren't right on the beach (that's another category up) but the view was unobstructed and framed perfectly in the distance by coconut palms.”
